I used to be a regular at Roka Akor in Oakbrook…Moto in St. Charles … Kyoto and other restaurants whenever I wanted “high-end” sushi, but after eating at Kubo, I honestly don't think I can go back to these other restaurants. Kubo is where it is at in the heart of downtown Elgin.What completely blew me away is that every single roll actually tastes unique and distinct. They are so tasty! You pay for what you get. I love the positive vibe. They are so accommodating and friendly. No drama! At so many high-end sushi places, the specialty rolls start blending together after a while—same spicy mayo, same sweet glaze. But at Kubo, every creation has its own bold identity and incredible depth of flavor. You can tell the chef puts real thought into pairing ingredients so every bite offers something genuinely new and insanely tasty.Combine that extraordinary flavor with buttery, melt-in-your-mouth fish and a warm, welcoming vibe, and Kubo takes the top spot without question. If you love sushi where the flavor actually stands out, this place is unbeatable.My faves: Sumo, Aloha, Godzilla rolls - they are all so good. Best edamame ever! Friendly staff and clean place!

Ethan was very kind him and the rest of the staff where juggling between kitchen hosting and at the same.time giving the best vibes! Their sushi is very unique combines flavors colors and very interesting combination of ingredients. 100% recommend, shouldn't eat before taking pictures ill do that next time!

I took a photo of my plate for the app to find this spot. The app also calculates calories from my pictures. The sushi had good protein and fit my remaining calories perfectly. The dining room was quiet for lunch.

Can be a little hit or miss depending on how understaffed they are but it’s some of the best sushi I’ve had. Samurai roll blows my mind every time.

When my 10 yo was serious about trying truely amazing sushi for the first time, I wanted to make sure I took him somewhere that would help him understand and appreciate the real culinary art and skill that goes into it. No better place than this. Everything here is 20/10, 5 stars. Guess this is now his favorite place to eat. 😉
