When my 10 yo was serious about trying truely amazing sushi for the first time, I wanted to make sure I took him somewhere that would help him understand and appreciate the real culinary art and skill that goes into it. 11/10 experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine smiles and made to feel so welcome. The atmosphere, music, and service were all fantastic, but what really stood out was how seriously they take gluten-free dining.I have celiac disease, and the chef took the time to assure us they have a dedicated gluten-free protocol. I even overheard him educating his staff about proper gluten-free procedures, which gave me so much confidence. As someone who constantly worries about cross-contamination, that meant the world to me.And the food… absolutely incredible. You can genuinely taste the passion and care the chef puts into every dish. Everything was exceptionally fresh, and the flavor combinations were some of the best sushi I’ve ever had.They even offer celiac-safe deep-fried sushi options, which is something I almost never find at sushi restaurants. It made the experience feel extra special and gave me the opportunity to enjoy dishes that I usually have to pass on.This has officially become my new favorite sushi restaurant. If you’re looking for amazing sushi, incredible hospitality, and a place that truly understands how to safely accommodate people with celiac disease, I cannot recommend Kubo Sushi enough. We’ll absolutely be back!

I own 2 restaurants. I have been to Michelin Rated restaurants, including 2 rated sushi restaurants. One was in Chicago the other was in Thailand. I have been around the block when it comes to food and sushi. No one, and I mean NO ONE is doing sushi like this in a little suburb an hour outside of Chicago. This is, in my opinion, as good, if not better, than the Michelin Rated places. Over the last 3 weeks I have explored their menu and I have yet to find something that wasn’t made thoughtfully and with care. I talked to the Chef and he says he buys whole fish and breaks them down, and you can taste the difference. I was lucky enough on one visit to experience Salmon Belly Nigiri. The best bite of nigiri I have ever had. It’s not normally available he said, which is fine. Too much of a good thing as they say. The cuts of fish for his sashimi or nigiri is generous but not too much at the same time. Kubo needs a visit from Michelin or a major publication. The world needs to experience real sushi, made with expert hands, with the utmost care. Kubo isn’t just a Sushi Place. Kubo is Kubo as Nobu is Nobu. I said it and I will stand by it. (Yes, I’ve been to Nobu and Kubo is better)

A solid place to go for Sushi or Ramen. The food is always outstanding and it's balanced with great service. Had some Jazz playing at a perfect volume. Can't hit Kubo enough, always a solid choice.

My husband and I are regular visitors to this restaurant, and it has truly become one of our favorite places. They have the best ramen I have ever had, the maki are absolutely delicious, and every dish we’ve tried has been excellent. Whenever we have the chance, this is the place we choose. Highly recommend with love

I drove all the way from Chicago to El Kubo in Elgin today to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday. We had heard that their food was good—but it turns out it's absolutely delicious! Marshall, our waiter, provided excellent service; the only downside was the bartender, who really needs to tone down their attitude. They don't need to be so rude, because while I—as a customer—respect everyone, I also deserve to be treated with respect. P.S. The chef is truly top-notch.
