One thing I really appreciated about kwi was you had unlimited material while practicing. Meaning you was able to try different things and tips from instructors to figure out what way best suited you specifically before taking your actual certification test. Some instructors could seem really tough at time while I was going there but after I graduated I couldn’t of been more thankful for their methods because they made me the welder I am today. Blake Hawkins helped me through school tremendously and I was extremely lucky to have him on my first job with me to help me make that transition from school to the job. Jordan Johnson and garret maddox were also instructors while I attended and they are also jam up welders in the school and in the field. They look at the drive and dedication I had which showed them how bad I wanted it. The instructors know how the field works, they’ve been in it and made it. They come back and teach their skills to the eager students and help make them the next generation of welders. It’s all about how bad you want it, skill and money will come in time! Every time I go on a different outage I am excited to show the hire in management I have my TWIC, MSHA, OSHA, NCCER, NCCCO, Basic Plus, and CPR because they see that I am more qualified than those who don’t have them. I took my time during school and made sure I learned the skill instead of just brushing over it, I was able to go at my own pace and learn how I wanted to. Eventually I got to a point in school where I could do what I wanted after reaching 7 certifications meaning I received the Golden Arm hood which resembles the blood sweat and tears you put into welding, and the dedication you put into your work. I chose to hit copper nickel hard because that was one of the harder certs, I struggled a lot but I took my time and finally learned how the filler metal sews into the base metal. This skill helped me later on when I had to take a test I had never taken before to hire in because the filler metal was so similar! I would recommend this Institute to anyone, going into the trade is something that should be thought of more. I wouldn’t be where I am at today without the Kentucky Welding Institute. Less

It’s about time we have our training centers open for training many different tradesman, we been needing this also back in schools all across this country They should have never taken out training programs out of schools just too push collage that only put most in over their head and they still could not get a decent paying job.... Great men taking young men and women teaching them not only welding. But showing them how to be great people in they’re communities. A lot of good things are happening here. The faculty at this school are all top notch pillars in they’re community surrounding kwi. I am very impressed with how they carry themselves and how business is ran daily there. I went to KWI the second half of 2018. They prepared me for the field in a way that the guys i was working side by side with couldn’t tell i had just gotten out of school. And that’s the best thing to look for. It’s not all booth welds in the field, so that’s not what they do at KWI. Hands down best welding/industry training in the nation.... More
