I really wanted to give Chris House five stars because I trusted him and had confidence in his work. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be recommending him. Chris and his team previously detailed my boyfriend's car and did a great job. Because of that experience, I contacted him for a two-step paint correction and full detail on my car. He offered me a repeat-customer price of $599. About six hours into the job, Chris called and said the two-step correction was not producing the results he expected. He offered a three-step correction at no additional charge. I appreciated the offer, but my paint should have been assessed beforehand so the correction level, time, and price could be determined upfront. Later, Chris appeared frustrated about the extra work, even though he had offered it. Before my appointment, I clearly explained what I expected from the interior detail. I also emptied it. I wanted the dashboard, vents, windows, doors, cup holders, cracks, crevices, and other hard to reach areas thoroughly cleaned, not just vacuumed and wiped down. Chris assured me everything was included. When my car was returned, the exterior looked better, although some scratches we had specifically discussed and that I was told would come out were still visible. Honestly, I was willing to accept that. The interior was where I was most disappointed. Dust remained on the dashboard, the glove compartment appeared to have been quickly wiped over, the windows were smeared, the vents had not been touched, parts of the doors were still dirty, and the cup holders were not completely clean. Considering my car was already emptied and fairly clean, I expected much more from a full interior detail. I showed Chris the missed areas. He acknowledged my concerns, said he had forgotten some tools he needed, and promised to return the following day to go over everything again. At that point, I was not upset. Mistakes happen, and I appreciated that he offered to correct them. I paid him in full and also gave him a tip. Unfortunately, he did not return as promised. The next morning, I asked what time he planned to come. He said he had another vehicle to work on and would text me when he finished. By almost 5pm, I still had not heard from him, so I asked whether I should still expect him. He explained that the other job had taken longer than expected but repeatedly avoided directly answering my question. After I asked again, he eventually said it was looking more like Monday. I understand running behind or having a job take longer than expected. What I do not understand is promising to return the next day and then avoiding a straightforward question instead of communicating clearly and proposing another time. Chris eventually called me and raised his voice. He said my expectations were too high, accused me of trying to take advantage of him, said we were not a good fit, and told me he regretted working with me. He then said he would not be returning and wished me luck with my next detailer. I could not believe the conversation had taken that turn. Chris had already acknowledged that areas were missed, and he was the one who offered to come back. I was not requesting additional services, a free upgrade, or anything beyond what we had discussed. I was simply asking him to follow through on his promise. My biggest issue was not that some areas were missed. Mistakes can be corrected. My biggest issue was how the situation was handled afterward. I was left with an interior that was not fully detailed, exterior results that did not completely match what had been discussed, a promise that was not honored, and a disrespectful phone call for holding him accountable. Clear communication, professionalism, and standing behind your word matter just as much as the work itself. Unfortunately, my experience with Chris ultimately lacked all three.
