The experience with Elvis and the venue’s “in-house planner” was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. The venue advertises an in-house planner, but that was not my experience. I was asked to submit a mood board before our very first phone call, which I did. Despite having my inspiration beforehand, our first call consisted of walking through the venue while she took no notes and did not document any of my requests. Elvis repeatedly overpromised what the planner would handle, including decorations and detailed coordination, but when I referenced what Elvis had told me, she said those things were not possible and that decorations were not something she handled. We scheduled an in-person meeting the following week because I was told we would review a mock-up of how everything would look on the day of my event. Instead, we did another walkthrough, and once again, she had no notes. She then informed me that she could not provide mock-ups because that service was not included in what the venue paid her to do.When I requested another meeting to finalize the details, she refused, stating that the venue only paid her for one meeting. Throughout the planning process, communication was difficult. Many of my questions were met with, “I know what you want. I’ll do it my way,” rather than listening to the vision I had already provided. When I tried to address these concerns with Elvis, he was dismissive. Instead of helping resolve the issues, he would tell me to “read my reviews,” say that I was stressing, or that I was giving him a headache. There was no effort to clarify expectations or take accountability for what had been promised. To make matters worse, on the morning of my event, the planner, Lina, was calling me asking for details about the decorations because she didn’t have any notes from our previous conversations. As a bride, the last thing I should have been doing on the morning of my wedding was explaining my décor plan all over again.I spent months communicating my vision, providing inspiration photos, and trying to schedule meetings, only to find out on the day of the event that there was little preparation. It was stressful, disorganized, and far below the level of service that was promised.
