It took way longer than planned due to their equipment not working and I was missing work for this visit. After the exam they sent me to the front desk and didn't even do anything for my tooth and no cleaning because even though I agreed to one over the phone they did not schedule me for a cleaning. When I got to the front desk, the same woman that had told me on the phone more than once that the exam was covered suddenly tells me that it's only 90% covered and wanted to know how I would pay the difference. I asked how much for the extraction of my tooth I broke and it was a couple hundred. I told her not to schedule me and walked out. Later that day, I received a text message from them apologizing for my experience and informing that they would NOT be charging me for the difference that my insurance didn't cover. However, shortly after I ended up receiving a bill for it anyways. I reached back out and they claimed they were waiting on my insurance and handled it that day. Here I am a month later still receiving this bill. I reached back out a week ago over it and never got a response and received a bill again just today. I have found other recent reviews with similar experiences of being told one thing on the phone before the services and then being told something different AFTER the services have been completed. To top it off, the front desk woman tried gaslighting me by saying that maybe I misheard her on the phone but I know I didn't because I asked more than once just to be sure and each time her words were "it's 100% covered by your insurance" or else I wouldn't have went through with the visit, or had chosen to just skip the exam and had them just tend to my broken tooth. Couldn’t I leave them in the lobby till it was their turn right after me? Could I have someone come & take the kids until it was their turn? (They were 5 & 3 at the time, so wayyy too little to ask that they be alone.) The new staff manager was introducing herself to everyone while they were over my mouth, the hygienists who were going to do my kids kept changing last minute, and our usual quick cleanings took 3 hours. It was rather disorganized. (Note: my kids do GREAT at the dentist and they got to watch Frozen 1 & 2 on the TV, so the kids weren’t the problem this time.) It’s a sad goodbye, as I really had no problem with the doctors, but it seemed so “off” last time that we’re walking away now. Definitely missed the hygienist we had before who didn’t cause pain, was super sweet and patient, and easily put me & the kids at ease. She didn’t treat them like a problem . I don’t know what’s going on with all the changes but it is definitely not somewhere I’m comfortable going anymore. Wish them all the best though. Less

Everyone is so friendly and relaxed. Normally I’m very nervous apprehensive about seeing dentist but not with Shawnee Dentistry.
