Then, the head instructor made several race related comments that are based in stereotypes and that made me very uncomfortable. Such as when he said Asians are just better at martial arts, or when I overheard him tell another student that Filipino men were only 5'0, or that ‘inner city’ kids didn't know about baseball, because it wasn't a part of the culture. Blue Tiger Martial Arts is a great martial arts school! I attend the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai classes with both my boys (ages 11 & 16) and they both love going there. The instructors (Chris & Daniel) are very patient, show a genuine concern for all their students and make classes fun! I've been going to BTMA for over a year. I had some pretty serious health issues and needed to be able to modify the karate classes, just for me, so that I could eventually build up my strength. All of the teachers were willing to help me with making changes that would help me to learn the skills without overly stressing my body. My doctors are happy, I'm healthier than I've been in years, and I plan on continuing until I get my Black Belt, at least! This is a fantastic school with teachers that really do care about each of their students and an experienced Master who makes it all worthwhile. Less
