We were hanging out at Playa Manzanillo and decided to look for a surfing class last minute and texted to see if they had any openings and even though they were booked up for the day they were super gracious and squeezed us in last minute because it was our last night in town. Had an amazing time with Roy at Playa Hermosa, he was a great instructor and super fun. Highly recommend using their services if your in the area or planning a visit!!!

Our group of three had already had two lessons and a bit of amateur experience before going out with Pedro. In a single session with Pedro, we unlearned our bad habits and were suddenly able to stand up - actually surf (!) - in under an hour. He can read the waves like no one else. A talented teacher, veteran surfer, great guy, and our top recommendation for surfing lessons - anywhere!

We did a lesson in a very small group and it was amazing. The theory part was very detailed and personal, which was helpful. We made good progress right away and were able to handle the board in the first 15 minutes already. The instructions were personalised on the levels and the whole group was able to catch 1-2 open green waves by end of the lesson. In general we felt safe all the time and the best part was little Charlie who was a very cute and chilled doggo.🐶 🌊🤙🏽We would highly recommend a surf lesson with pedro and team 🙌🏼

We recently spent a month in Manzanillo and I took several surf lessons with Ocean Tribe.Pedro and Emilia are quite simply an amazing team!I had never really surfed before and by day two Pedro had me in the lineup surfing actual waves😁. He is a really chill and positive teacher - technical where needed but also focused on one’s energy in relationship to the ocean.Emilia is incredibly kind and makes setting up the lessons an easy and positive experience.I recommend them without any hesitation and hope to see them again we return!

I booked a very spontaneous Surflesson with Pedro and it was amazing!! He exactly knew what it takes to challenge me but feel secure in the same time. Fantastic experience with Ocean Tribe. We spent 2 hours at Santa Hermosa Beach with Pedro and Roy. As a family of 4 with 2 teens (all beginners) everything went so well and we had so much fun. They are very dedicated all the way. Instructions given before (practicing on the beach) and in the ocean were very good. Obviously I highly recommend Ocean Tribe. Cherry on the cake playa Hermosa is incredible 👍

Ocean tribe is the place to go if you want to surf or stay on Nicoya peninsula! We simply walked in and organized a lesson for the next day. Arrangements were easily made over WhatsApp. We loved meeting Pedro and Emilia and their daughter! They were so welcoming and had great recommendations for places to visit and eat in the area.This was my first surf lesson and I had a blast even though the swell was in and the conditions were rough to say the least. Pedro’s thorough safety and technical instructions before going in the water and his calm reassurance to flow with the movement of the ocean were really effective. I felt so much more confident in the rough water with his instructions and learned a lot about the movement of the waves and tides. I’m a lifelong skater and snowboarder and I’m looking forward to translating some of Pedro’s instructions from surfing to those boards too. We really enjoyed getting to know Pedro in conversation while we waited for the swell to calm down a bit before heading out to surf again. If you want someone who is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, patient and safe then Pedro is your man!I hope we come again, Manzanillo is a gem and we would love to stay at Ocean Tribe! Emilia took the time to show us their accommodations which are lovely apartments, really well crafted and designed, nestled in the jungle under a beautiful tree in full bloom of yellow flowers that carpeted the ground all around it. A true paradise with really great vibes! Highly recommend both the lessons and the accommodations!
