We regularly would drive 45 mins into town for this dentist. However they recently changed dentists and things have clearly changed. My husband made an appt for our child over the phone and double checked that we could come in for a small filling for our child. I got a babysitter and drove all the way in to town just for the new dentist to turn us away after looking at my daughter’s tooth for a few seconds. All of the sudden he says she has “extreme decay” and will “need a CROWN?!” He didn’t even do x-rays. She is very polite and well behaved; we are baffled by this. Either the dentist doesn’t want to see children anymore or they are culling their Medicaid patients. They should have called us and told us so that we could have found a different dentist before this! Very unprofessional and rude behavior from everyone there, with no apology given. I recognize that this facility is primary Medicaid - and also that mistakes happen - but that isn't an excuse for a poor attitude.Update: 12/15/18 Had the filling drilled out and refilled by another dentist in Missoula - their hypothesis was that the since the filling fell apart easily upon removal, that the filling polymers didn't completely bind to the tooth, resulting in movement and therefore pain when flossing. Additionally, the staff candidly mentioned that the large size of the filling was surprising considering the size of the small cavity seen in the xrays. Not what you want to hear lol Less

This 5 star review comes in the context of getting bad news about my teeth and I want to give Dr. Rosser and his team the HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION I can because they were clear in the explanations, up front about pricing, and then efficient and thorough in the work that needed to be done.I hadn't been to a dentist in over 5 years and knew it was finally time because something didn't feel right. I dreaded going because I knew the trip would be confusing and expensive and my last first visit to a dentist long ago was a terrible experience. This one had the makings of being a terrible experience too because I was told I had 4 huge cavities that needed to be filled right away and because it had been so long, the cleaning would need to be extensive."As usual" I thought. Might as well go to a mechanic today too and get really worked over. But Dr. Rosser and his team had cameras and shared photos to show me exactly where the problems were, walked me through my X-rays, and explained that there was urgency in doing the work because we could still catch the repairs before a root canal was needed. They gave me a firm education in tooth care without making me feel like the total dummy I was for half a decade of MIke 'n' Ikes and Swedish Fish and so we scheduled the procedures ASAP and I was confident in what had to happen.I can only describe the next week and a half as a mouth make-over/total occlusal boot camp of deep cleaning followed by two sessions of drilling and filling. If it sounds miserable then yes, you get the picture. But once again, Dr. Rosser was very clear about what needed to be done and patiently answered all of my questions. His team was a pleasure to be around and was knowledgeable about the after care needed and even had great suggestions for keeping up healthy habits while maintaining efforts toward a plastic-free lifestyle. Their attention to detail is top notch and best of all the pricing was clearly explained up front and delivered within expectation.I really cannot give Dr. Rosser's office a good enough review to say thank you for a great experience so if you're on the fence about what to do next, call and schedule a cleaning. They'll get you in quickly and you'll be in good hands from floss to fluoride? (start to finish.) Also, enjoy the birds; a thoughtfully installed bird feeder provides endless entertainment. Less

Dr. Rosser and his staff are amazing!! I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for them!! I have been a patient of Dr. Rosser for over 10 years. From a car accident in 2008 I ended up with a broken jaw, after being wired shut for 6 weeks we later found out that there wasnt enough blood supply to my left mandibular condyle and I had pain and lots of headaches. After being referred to Dr. Rosser he knew right away what the problem was. He arranged all of my imaging and scans to verify the problem. Dr. Rosser works closely with one of the top TMJ surgeons in the world (Dr.Piper) in St Petersburg Florida. Dr. Rosser helped me set up a consultation with Dr.Piper in 2010 and my life has been forever changed. I ended up having jaw reconstruction surgery where one of my ribs was taken out and the left side of my jaw was reconstructed with it, and on the right side I had a sagittal split osteotomy. Through out the entire proceess and recovery Dr. Rosser and his staff were there for my family and I with any questions or concerns. Today you can barely tell I had such a big surgery! I am beyond grateful for Dr. Rosser I wouldn't be pain free and where I am today if it were not for him! I know they are not getting paid what they should be getting paid because my insurance is so cheap. Regardless, Dr. Whalen takes great care to make sure the work is done correctly. I was actually pretty happy with this dentist and had an appointment to get some fillings and another appointment to get a cleaning. I got ex rays and an exam and the office is a little dated but everyone was very friendly. I had an appointment to get a filling and I woke up in the morning with some kind of stomach bug so I called them at 930 am and my appointment was at 4pm. There was an extremely rude receptionist who I have never spoken to before who informed me that I would be charged 50$ for cancelling. I said well I'm sick would you like me to come anyways? She said YES!? What kind of dental practice wants sick patients coming into their office. I said my appointment is not until 4 and I called you as soon as I could. She was snotty and had zero customer service skills. If a dental office wants patients to come into their office when they are sick then I do not want anyone there sticking their hands in my mouth. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!! I started going to Dr Whalen about a year ago when I had to get a root canal done. I had discomfort the whole time after and told him before he went to put a crown on the same tooth a few weeks ago he said it couldn’t be still hurting because he had done a root canal on it and the tooth was dead. He did the crown put on the temp and I left. A week later I went back in in much pain and a definitely abbsessed tooth. I was then informed he had to recover the root canal and sent on my way in serious pain until they could fit me in again. I waited 6 days before I was called to come back in today. He was so frustrated my tooth didn’t even get drilled. He took off the temporary crown and was having a hard time getting the dental dam on when I started to gag, he grabbed the dental dam so angry he grabbed my beard with it and ripped out hair with the dental dam while cussing and screaming I stood up in shock and said I would be finding another dentist. He then started yelling at me like I had slept with his wife or something of that seriousness. He tried to fight me in his office throwing up his arms saying what are you going to do about it. I walked out and thank god I was able to get into another dentist tomorrow. THE MOST UNPROFESINAL THING I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH IN MY LIFE!!!!! Less

She is so wonderful, caring and fun (yes I said fun, I know not something you would expect from a dental assistant right) Kelly has a wonderful bubbly personality who is also very gifted at putting peoples minds to ease. Kelly was very gentle, thorough, and re-assuring. Thank You Kelly ❤️ Dr Whalen...WOW!! What a kind, gentle, Super sweet guy!! He explained everything to me and was even able to repair a near impossible to repair tooth!! He is very proud of his staff and tells them how lucky he is to have the Best staff ever. I really liked this dentist at first, but on my 3rd visit, I had left several messages over the weekend about a problem I was having with a filling this dentist put in. It was a filling that went in between two of my teeth. The problem I was having, which I described over the phone in my messages, was that the filling he had placed was causing me a lot of discomfort, and that it felt like it was going to get ripped out when I flossed between those two teeth. When I showed up to my appointment, Dr.Whalen acted like he had not listened to my messages, he went straight into trying to put another filling on a different tooth. I stopped him and told him that I would really prefer if he addressed my problem that I had called about first. He got extremely irritated, visibly, and asked me what I had an issue with. I told him that I had left a few messages over the weekend describing my problem, and asked if he had listened to them at all. He proceeded to get more irritated, and told me that that was his receptionist's job. I was a little disturbed by his tone, but I described my problem to him, and he opened my mouth and drilled on the filling that was causing the issue for a few seconds, then asked me if it was better. I told him that the main problem was when I was flossing, and that it would be hard for me to tell without trying to floss. This time, Dr.Whalen got increasingly irritated, put all of his tools down, and pushed a piece of floss into my mouth, none too gently, and yanked it back out from between my teeth very quickly, causing me to jump in pain. He looked at me and told me to sit down and "stop being dramatic", then held the piece of floss up in my face and said, "if there was anything wrong with my filling it would have cut the floss. I'm done with this, you need to get out of my chair and find a new dentist." I was so taken aback, I didn't get up right away. I looked at the hygienist, and she had put both of her hands up and moved away from the chair. I looked back at the dentist and said, "are you serious? I'm not complaining about your work I just need you to fix it, it's causing me pain." Dr.Whalen got up and walked away, then from the other room he said, "you need to leave. Let me know when you find a new dentist and I'll send them your x-rays." And then he shut the door on me. I was furious. On my way out, I told him and the receptionist that I was reporting the incident to the Montana Board of Dentistry, and he just laughed at me. I have never had a worse experience with a dentist, not even as a child. I would never recommend this dentist, even if he was the last one in town that accepted Medicaid. Less

I initially started seeing Dr. Rosser (Ron) about 7 years ago. During my 1st few 6-month checkups, I realized that Ron was not only interested in my teeth, but my my overall health. Through the years, I have mentioned to Ron my moderate sleep apnea issue, and how it affects my sleep quality; I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about 10 years ago through several sleep tests, which results from a narrow/constricted airway. I have also mentioned to him a persistent mild to sometimes moderate left temporal headache that I have experienced the past 4 years.About 4 years ago, Ron made a dental appliance for me that he was experimenting with for people with sleep apnea. The device kept my mouth open more, and gave me more room for breathing (it's essentially a thicker football-style mouthpiece with a hole for breathing). Over the past 4 years, I have worn it most of the time (given its size, I sometimes struggled to keep it in), and it improved my quality of sleep. However, my left temporal headaches persisted, even with trying numerous remedies.Recently, Ron fitted me with a new version of his sleep apnea mouthpiece. He's modified the old version through trial and error and research. The new device is more compact, fits very easily into my mouth, and I've found it easier to keep in my mouth for the entire night. This version has one hole in the front and one on each side to allow multiple breathing ports in the event my tongue blocks one of the ports. The new device has continued to give me a much better quality of sleep than when I don't use it. I feel more rested in the morning, and throughout the day. In addition, one of the most amazing side benefits I've experienced is my left temporal headaches have been significantly reduced the past several weeks since using the new device, and are almost nonexistent, which is a big change from the past several years.I'd highly recommend Dr. Rosser if you have any persistent mouth/teeth problems. He stays current on research and current remedies, and in addition, performs a significant amount of research himself. If you have sleep apnea problems, and do not get a good nights sleep, I'd highly recommend giving his dental device a try. One of his employees also told me they use his dental appliance for sleeping, and told me it has completely eliminated their snoring and they are sleeping better as a result of wearing it. Less

Dr. Rosser goes above and beyond what he has to and is very accomodating. He takes his time with his work and nevers rushes you out of the office.
