If you are looking for the best in savory and sweet with friendly service, then make this place yours. Forget the many other pretentious coffee shops on 124th. In the last few months, The Grand Cafe recently introduced all made from scratch baked goods with a bit of Mediterranean flair. While their menu is not extensive, it doesn’t need to be as everything they do, is just right. One visit is sure to be followed by many more. The music played is usually light Jazz and is kept at a background volume so one can have a decent conversation. The food is great. We are partial to the Pizza Margherita with the fresh basil but our new favorite is the Veggie Calzone. Did we mention that they have a wood fired oven? And the coffee is not complete without a cookie or two from their display. They also make their own croissants and have some gluten free options. So far, we’ve liked everything we’ve tried but if you don’t, tell the owner Fadi and he will listen! Now a message for Fadi. We love the quality of food and service that you offer. The coffee machine has character and Sarah makes the perfect Machiatto, Espresso and other coffee drinks. Thank you! While your place has character, it could use some TLC and sprucing up. Tonight I stopped in for a pizza for dinner. It was quite busy as there was a festival happening on the street. I didn't mind waiting as I'm pretty understanding however when I was next in line, the cashier's kept glancing around and talking to each other but we're not attempting to take my order and I was about 2 feet away from the counter because I wanted to give some space until they called me up. I waited for about 2 minutes when they finally said, "are you also waiting for a hot chocolate?" I said no, I'm waiting for my order to be taken(meanwhile there is a long line up behind me so I don't understand how they could have thought that I was just waiting for a hot chocolate when I was standing in line like everyone else). They took my order, I ordered a cheese pizza or a "Margarita", they said it'll be a few minutes. 15 minutes pass by and I noticed that two separate customers who arrived after me got their pizzas first so I went up to the counter and I had let them know that I was still waiting for my pizza which they had not even started yet. I understand how busy the restaurant was tonight however that isn't an excuse to not do their jobs. We waited about 5 to 10 more minutes and the pizza was finally done they brought it to me which I appreciate however I'm going to admit that the pizza was not worth $15. I want to add that I am a pretty polite person and even if my pizza was late I still use manners and a polite tone because of course there is no reason for me to be directly rude towards them. So unfortunately I do not think I will be eating here again in the future. Less

The smoked salmon bagel is delicious . The gentleman made it fresh as they do when there is not the item in the case, and it was heaven.

Another lovely time sitting in the sunshine enjoying coffee and a light lunch. Place was packed!

Fadi was very personable and takes pride in his recipes and ingredients. Try the chick and zucchini pizza with his special pesto sauce. Fantabulous!
