I put off joining Shelby Trained for almost a year because of the price. Looking back, I wish I hadn't waited. What sets Shelby Trained apart is that it's so much more than personal training. Every workout is built around what my body needs, and the attention to proper form means I'm not just working hard—I'm working safely and getting the best results. As someone who needed more of a physical therapy-level approach after as I get older, having a customized plan that addresses my old injuries, my body's changes, it has helped me rebuild strength, balance, and confidence in my body.Their methodology evaluates my movement patterns for strengths and places to improve. Even better, they provide customized pre-habilitation, aka a "pre-hab" routine, that prepares my body for the workout ahead. I never feel like I am scared for a workout, and I always feel stronger, more able to move after each workout. It's the best feeling!I also love the semi-private training model. Instead of feeling like I'm being watched every second with a one-on-one trainer, I get expert coaching while training alongside others. The training and attention is better than what most physical therapy places provide. It creates a genuine sense of community. As someone with ADHD, that community has made all the difference. Having a scheduled time, seeing familiar faces, and knowing people expect me there keeps me accountable without the pressure or guilt that has made it hard to stick with other fitness programs, or even trying to rely on myself to workout. As a former college competitive athlete, it was frustrating to feel like my body couldn't do what I knew it was capable of. Thanks to Shelby Trained, my balance is back to what it was in my 20s. I feel strong again. I feel capable again. I feel excited for what levels I can reach in the future. I wish I had Shelby Trained when I was a college athlete, I can only imagine how much better I would have been, and how much more fun it would have been feeling so much more capable. At this point, I can't justify quitting Shelby Trained because it's become essential to my quality of life. It helps me enjoy time with my kids, coach youth sports with confidence, and handle the physical demands of everyday life. If I miss a week, I feel my old body struggles knocking at the door. For me, it's not just an expense—it's an investment in being able to fully live my life.If you're hesitating because of the cost like I did, I'd encourage you to think about the value instead. For me, it's been worth every penny.
