For a person wanting to get into bjj this is a great step into the world. the coaches create a great atmosphere of a team and welcome new people with open arms. everyone is nice and approachable. the hygiene of the dojo is very good. the place focuses on both self defence and also sport, so it suits all types of people, either for competitors looking to compete, people wanting self defence or overall health and well-being. I would very much recommend it.

I started at Gracie Barra Dundee in 2022 after doing some Jiu-Jitsu in when I was younger, and I’m so glad I gave it another go. It’s easily one of the best things I’ve done for my fitness and mental health. The team here is awesome – super welcoming, and the coaching from Professor Val and the other higher grade team members is top notch. Training has become my biggest stress reliever, and I always leave feeling better than when I walked in. I’ve spoken so highly of it that two of my mates have joined, and they love it too. If you’re thinking about trying Jiu-Jitsu, this is 100% the place to do it!

Gracie Barra is a great place to be. Professor Val and the team welcomed me from the start and made me feel at home right away. Since first walking in the academy, I was amazed at the cleanliness of the place and how organised it is. Ju-jitsu has been brilliant for improving my fitness, mindset and reducing stress. For people thinking about starting out, I was on the fence at first… but now, I couldn’t imagine taking part in anything else. If you have kids that want to start BJJ then in my opinion Gracie Barra is the best in town. My 7 years old attends and I’m so impressed with what Val and Callum do at the club. They clearly understand the kids and meet them at their level yet impose the ideal amount of discipline to ensure the kids know exactly where the line is. It’s the perfect combination of coaching BJJ, life lessons like respect and discipline and having lots of fun at the same time. And the kids obviously love Val and Callum to keep coming back every session and interact with them in the way they do. It’s a very friendly and welcoming club and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Been going for 4 years and, since starting, I’ve signed up my 9 year old son. He absolutely loves it and it’s amazing how far he’s come in 3 years. Not just with his skills on the mat but also in terms of confidence, experience with competition and mixing with other great kids of different ages and backgrounds. 4 year old daughter will also be starting soon, and she can’t wait! Very clean academy with 2 large mates, male and female changing rooms and a shower. Welcoming and friendly atmosphere. When it comes to starting a martial art, it can be daunting, especially if you're overweight/unfit. From the minute I've walked in to GB Dundee, I've been made to feel more than welcome and supported all the way. There's a positive atmosphere that really encourages the best out of you whilst also maintaining that interest in a such an interesting complex martial art. The facilities are flawless, you'd struggle to find a problem with them as they're always kept to a high sanitary standard! The timetable is so accommodating to your lifestyle/work schedule that makes it so easy to attend the classes without feeling like you're sacrificing things to fit around the class. I started on the beginner block with professor Val and it was the introduction that had me hooked, anything myself or others in the class wanted to know more about, he explained with great detail and demonstration. He has always been approachable and maintained a professional level when teaching the class but also been friendly where you really do get the most amount of information in the funnest way possible. I can honestly say that I've enjoyed every class I have been to meeting new people, building fitness level and learning the martial art. When it comes to #BJJDundee, Gracie Barra is the right place to start that journey!

I joined GB around 1 year ago. Being a little older now I was a bit nervous as to how I'd get on. However, it was a great decision to join. Coach Val has been brilliant and I feel like I've progressed well. I'd also point out that ALL of the members are brilliant from lower to higher rank. Everyone is friendly and willing to help. The club is a supportive and safe environment to train and it's well looked after which is great.
