This isn’t a review on irrational thoughts, this has been a few months in the making after using the tray touring a few times and seeing the whole process through. To begin with I tried to purchase the tray after seeing Trojan were selling a demo tray through Facebook marketplace but although had been sold months prior apparently when I questioned the tray length was not informed about that.I was in a bit of a push for time which isn’t their issue but when asked what the lead time on a brand new one would be, I was told a few months.I then seen another post come up the following day about another demo tray to suit my vehicle, so I called up directly and got in touch with another salesman this time. Once again this was a mistake and should not have been posted but in fact they did have one brand new tray to suit my vehicle in stock…. Surprised because a day or two before I was told it was a couple months lead time.So I purchased this one near on straight away but requested I self install and boy I’m glad I did because if I hadn’t done this myself I wouldn’t have been non the wiser like a lot of people who would have it installed by Trojan. When picking up the tray which is model specific I was instructed I would need to cut down the rails to ensure the wheels don’t hit when articulating as they were protruding into the wheel arch by some distance. I don’t understand for the life of me if it’s model specific why they would just design it that the rails are the correct length. I’d say a cost cutting exercise as they are made in China. The headboard is soooo bloody tall although I’m sure it’s to help accommodate the headboard water tank my back window is now useless as you have solid headboard for half the rear window before the mesh part starts.Went to fit the water tank. The tray has existing holes that looked like they would suit there own supplied tank for there headboards but nope, additional holes needed to be drilled to fit.Fit wasn’t great.I don’t love that the side toolboxes have a dust seal but the trundle draw has nothing and leaks like no tomorrow. Even your MW trays have a trundle seal.Possibly my biggest annoyance and iv spoken with other Trojan tray owners who experienced the same and they been told is normal is when you fill your fuel tank full, even if the last 10L you trickle it in diesel absolutely pumps out the breather and dumps it all over the front of the tray or when you first drive off if it’s full to the brim pisses out.Even my previous basic cheap alloy tray supplied fuel fillers didn’t have this issue and my god it’s annoying cleaning up the mess. When expressing my disappointment with the tray their response is this is why we normally don’t let customers sell install which is a bit of a low blow, I feel them fitting the tray just hides these issues not fix them.To their credit it is a nice looking tray and has presence on the road and has some good features and enjoy having tie down points in the tray.Sadly i wish i spent a bit more and went a Aussie made norweld or something of the likes.
