We decided to remove our swimming pool. Our pool has very limited access. Finally we found Grade A Excavation and we were lucky. Mike and Hugh suggested pretty genius approach for solving a problem. They kept their promises about price, time. Work was done in time, very professionally, very quickly and cleanly. Crew was very respectful, hardworking. They clean up area every day. We were happy with results. When work was finished we wanted to improve our front yard areas. We had an additonal contract with Grade A and they done fantastic job while all heavy machinery was there. I would highly recommend this company. He and his crew redid the patio and graded it for water run off in a very tight space. They worked patiently with us to get it done so that it was functional and safe. So, do you remember the summer before last? You know, the one when we got an unusual amount of rain and a lot of us had flooded basements. Well, the basement in our older Lakewood home was one of them. We determined that the soil around our house needed to be graded to discourage the water from flowing toward the house. We did our research to find well-rated landscapers and reached out to a few. Most never returned my call. One made an appointment to look at our property, but never came. Another came and promised a quote but never submitted one and didn’t respond to my follow-up call. Hugh Mathews with Grade A Excavation & Landscape was the stand-out exception. I’m sure he was just as busy as the other contractors, but he called me back and took time to discuss my concerns over the phone. He set an appointment to see my property and actually kept that appointment! When I asked him about installing a French drain, he told me that it wasn’t needed. His experience, professionalism and honesty saved me money. Thanks, Hugh! He promised a quote by a specific date and kept that promise! We gave the go-ahead, and Hugh and I talked ahead of the scheduled project start date to make sure we knew what to expect and how to prepare. The friendly Grade A crew arrived on time and ready to go to work. They were obviously experienced, stayed busy, and treated us and our property with respect. We felt comfortable having them on site. When we asked questions, they took time to explain what they were doing. (By the way, they also said they really liked working for Hugh and Grade A.) The work was completed, as scheduled, in two days. The crew cleaned up after themselves, and Hugh inspected the work throughout the project. I am happy to report that my basement has been dry ever since. We are considering another landscaping project and won’t even bother calling other contractors. I have used Grade A for 3 separate projects in Denver and I also schedule yearly sprinkler blowouts. I trust Hugh and his team without question. We had Grade A do a 13,000 square foot gravel driveway and parking area which required a fair amount of grading, tree removal and large irrigation pipe removal. We happily used Grade A Excavation and Landscaping (owner Hugh) to re-grade our yard, remove a long concrete driveway, install a trench drain, a lawn with extensive mulched borders, a 14-zoned (well water) irrigation system and an open grid drive-over paving system with gravel fill amongst other projects. He comes back every spring/fall to maintain the irrigation for us and has always been responsive when we've reached out with other bits and bobs over the years. I value my relationship with him and his crew and will continue to lean on them to help us grow and expand our garden (hopefully a pond soon!)

Grade A replaced the grass in my side yard next to my driveway and installed a level gravel driveway to park my RV on. The section of grass sloped down on two sides, there are all of my utilities and a gate in that spot. The owner Hugh was helpful in developing a plan to address these concerns. In addition he was knowledgeable about the specific needs of creating a RV spot. He was patient with my million questions and reassuring throughout the process. I was impressed with his crew.
