I've been going to Bird Dog Crossfit, formally Crossfit Beaver Menace, since May 2020. The owners, coaches, and community here are excellent--honestly the most body positive gym I've ever been to. In 2022, I had emergency surgery after shattering my wrist in a fall, as well as heart surgery to correct a lifelong condition. At this gym, I received intellegent, gentle modifications (shout out to Coach Beth!) that kept me exercising safely even after these procedures. Both my heart and wrist surgeon said they credit my quick recovery to continued daily movement here. And the progress I've seen since is no joke. I have full mobility and can lift a hundred + pounds overhead on a wrist that should have remained weak for the rest of my life. I couldn't even do that before the injury! So, if you're an Average Joe who wants to try Crossfit--and especially if you're working with injury, chronic illness, or disability and have felt turned away from high intensity fitness before--then I cannot recommend this gym enough. I’ve been a member here since 2019 after relocating back to Colorado. I’ve been training here for 5 years, dropping in when I was in town visiting family. This place is by far my favorite gym. I’ve trained elsewhere, dropped in at other gyms. CFBM stands alone when it comes to the camaraderie, acceptance, and training. In addition CrossFit has changed my life, my baseline fitness has allowed me to achieve other objectives (ie: mountaineering, rock climbing, mountain biking, etc) outside of CrossFit efficiently. Even on days when I don’t feel the best, I walk into this place and my day in infinitely better. The members, coaches, and owners are awesome, and the workouts are scalable to any level. Both of my kids, as well as my 75 year old mom have come here and loved it. I’d highly recommend stopping by and trying it out!! Less

Fast forward to September, through my oldest sister, I was introduced to CrossFit once more. She lead me to the gym I now truly call my home, CrossFit Beaver Menace. From the moment I walked in, I felt immediately welcomed and loved. The MOMENT I walked in. I had my intro class with Katie Hayes, and then took my first class from her husband, Graham Hayes. Please believe me when I say that Katie and Graham are truly, truly one of a kind. They both are so incredibly nurturing, caring, encouraging, loving and SO knowledgeable. They always walk through the movements of the workout with such clarity and are always able to help modify or challenge depending on the athlete. They are also FUN. They love to make us laugh and always encourage us and push us and cheer us on. I've also had the pleasure of taking classes from Beth, Becky, and Damon as well. All of the coaches are so incredibly skilled, and devote extra time outside of the gym to continue to learn and grow as coaches AND as athletes. I couldn't ask for better coaches. They are the best in the world. The gym is always clean and always nice and organized, too. The members at this gym are the most loving, hilarious and encouraging people in the world. I go not only to get a great workout, but to see my people. To laugh together. To sweat together. To persevere together and to cheer each other. I'm so happy to say that I've made lifelong friendships at this gym. I'm grateful that CrossFit has now become something I'm incredibly passionate about thanks to this gym and these people.
