They really took very individual care of me and everything that concerned me, injuries, conditions & ailments.They have another Center called Lake and Mountain which is surrounded even more by pristine nature, as I heard, but since I only had 1 week I stayed in the homestay.Yoga with a view each morning and afternoon, daily consultation with the doctor(s), 2 treatments per day, 3 meals, 2 snack and tailor made juices and medicine daily, an ayurvedic cooking class, ayurvedic lectures, morning walks, a visit to a Hindu temple during Mahashivratri and evening prayers and chants in their chapel (which had a beautiful atmosphere through the prayers of their kids).Nearest Airport is Kochi and 2nd nearest is Thiruvanthapuram Peak traffic from and to the Airports during daytime should be avoided. I’ve just finished an amazing week at Madukkakuzhy Ayurveda. Whilst I definitely would have benefited from a longer stay I still have left there feeling a surprising number of positive physical and mental changes. I just feel so good! From the moment you arrive, everyone is so kind and welcoming. It’s like they all collectively wrap you in their love and really genuinely care about you. I cannot think of one person who did not greet me with a warm smile. The doctors are invested in your health and support you with real solutions. Every day you will see the doctor as well as have your 2 treatments which are recommended based on your health assessments. The food is exceptional and is hands down some of the best food I have ever eaten. You may have an adjustment to your diet depending on your treatment recommendations. The day starts with tea followed by gentle yoga or walk. Breakfast is at 7.30 and is usually a choice of warm porridge or ragi with a choice of toppings, as well a couple of hot options. Usually you will see the doctor for your assessment followed by your morning, longer Ayurvedic treatment, lunch is at 12.30, and as the main meal of the day is a delicious and nutritious selection of several options. Again you may not be eating all of them depending on your treatment. There is plenty of time for rest, reading and getting to know some of the other wonderful guests from around the world who have also come to this special place. Your afternoon treatment is usually shorter, there is fresh fruit and tea at 5, then dinner at 7 which is lighter, including a vegetable soup. Meal times give opportunity to connect with other guests which is a really special part of the experience. At the end of your stay Dr Jobin or Dr Robin will talk to you about recommendations for moving forward in your health and wellness journey and give you a deeper understanding of Ayurvedic practices which will positively impact your health and encourage your body to heal. Oil free diet, daily massages and treatment, healthy juices, early morning forest walks, yoga, the rain, the ambience of unpolluted surroundings with lake and mountain in the view, minimalistic yet sufficient cottages with no wifi, the authentic human beings - be it the guys (Akhil and the other who I forgot the name unfortunately) who serve you with all your kashayams, juices and detox with an ever smiling face and ensure you drink those, the doctors (Dr Jomi, Dr Elizabeth, Dr Jeya and Dr Abhi) and the customer service peeps - it all just made a huge difference. Special mention to Charu, who was our morning walk guide as well as the yoga teacher! My consultation and conversations with Jomi and Robin was meaningful and thought provoking! Overall, am genuinely happy to have discovered this place, though ideally I shd have stayed longer, it helped me to pause, reenergize and reflect and not just treat my shoulder issue. Less

I slipped and fell in their premises on day 2 of my 10 day stay. Not only did he have NO empathy, neither did he apologise. Instead his brother, Dr. Jobin said it’s because of ‘ rushing women syndrome’. Shows how they have been trained over the years to take no responsibility for mistakes from their side. The least they could have done was to power wash the property which was extremely mossy. The security who helped me with my bags ( Mr. Jyothish ) fell right in front of me when we were walking to the room. I was later told by the staff that this is a common occurrence in their property. Great idea I guess to treat people for falls on their campus, instead of the real issue they have come for. 3. Dr. Robin, who is supposedly a senior Doctor I’m afraid has forgotten his Hippocratic oath, which states clearly ‘ to abstain from all intentional harm’. He shouted at me three times ( once can be a mistake) when I told him that I was not being given any oil treatment for my insomnia, despite being on day 4 of my 10 day treatment. His rude, arrogant, obnoxious behaviour led to the flaring up of my UTI infection which I had not suffered from for over 2 years. It is totally stress related for me, so you can imagine the anxiety he caused with his awful behaviour. 4. The vast majority of therapists are fresh out of college and don’t have the expertise in either massage or any treatments. I had heard of many misdeeds like hot oil that fell on a guest during Shirodhara., not to mention my 77 year old mother who fell while getting off the massage table since the therapist did not bother to place a mat after kizhi. This does not even happen in ordinary Ayush day treatment centres. There was another case of a French guest being treated for sciatica who had to be rushed to hospital because the treatment went wrong. This was told to me by a guest at their Lake and Mountain property. 6. My cumulative experience of 52 days (42 days of treatment for my parents ) and 10 days of treatment for myself has led me to the conclusion that staying in Madakkakuzhy has been by far one of the worst Ayurvedic treatment experiences thus far. 7. The fact that they are not treatment oriented was evident from the get go when upon arrival the Junior doctor, Dr. Navya very flippantly told me that she had not received the detailed medical history I had sent of my parents over a month ago. Instead of apologising for the same and assuring me of obtaining it from their office, she had the gumption to tell me to resend it. This is a centre that is looking to milk you for every last penny. Für mich was diese Reise etwas ganz besonders und kann Madukkakuzhy Ayurveda zu 100 % empfehlen. Mein Tipp: Es gibt die Möglichkeit die Behandlungen an zwei unterschiedlichen Locations (Homestay und Lake & Mountains) zu erleben. Beide haben jeweils ihren eigenen Charme, daher würde ich meine Zeit wieder auf beide Locations aufteilen.The people are extremely friendly and kind, the treatments are just fantastic. The food is delicious and the whole ambience is just great. The doctors and their families are without a doubt some of the most amazing people I have ever met. The nature is beautiful, especially during the morning walks. For me, this trip was very special and I can recommend Madukkakuzhy Ayurveda 100%. My tip: There is the possibility to experience the treatments at two different locations (Homestay and Lake & Mountains). Car le médecin et toute son équipe de docteurs et thérapeutes savent s'occuper de nous de la tête aux pieds 🤗 ! We enjoyed every treatment, learned about life and behaviors and well recoverd we went back to Germany. The healthy improvements will facilitate everyday.All the guests here are from different countries with different religons and different languages. Additionally they have different health problems. Nothing is a problem here. All of employees are very kindful and respectful and every person is showed respect. Every wish and needs is tried to fulfill.My sister has PPMS. After spending our time at Maddukakuzzhy Ayurveda she´s able to walk almost longer ways alone with the roller shutter or a crutch. Short ways she can walk without any help. This gives her safety to cope every day alone at home. I had a Billroth I-operation long time ago, additionally 2 Spondylodese operations. Since many years I have to take medications (Nexium and morphines). For three weeks I don´t require nothing from these medications.Ayurveda will help you where conventional medicine doesn´t works.
