Two years ago (November, 2022), Jin Armstrong, amidst conversation with the owner of a property next door, noticed my difficulty walking down my driveway and came over to help with the packages I was carrying. I was then 77 years old and experiencing a health problem that I had no idea was as serious as it turned out to be. My introduction to Jin that day proved to be perhaps the most fortuitous happenstance of my life.Jin stopped by a couple times afterwards to check how I was and when she did so in February, discovered I was bedridden in a nearby hotel awaiting surgery which would hopefully keep me from dying of kidney failure.The surgery was (obviously) successful, but I would no longer be able to live in what had been my home for 65 years. I have no family, do have some good friends yet none of them realtors, but now my new friend was a realtor.I had no comprehension of what needed to be done, but Jin made sure I understood everything. In addition to selling my house for a price higher than I would have imagined (more than double its tax evaluation!) Jin assumed the responsibility of settling me into a comfortable apartment in a community I'm quite familiar with, two blocks from the high school I graduated from in 1963. But her choice of the location was more for a different reason. She lives just three blocks away, and as Jin put it, "I can be there in five minutes whenever you need me."So she's a realtor who's become a trusted friend over the past two years. And while it wouldn't register as significant to the vastmajority of folks reading this, in my circumstance Jin has also become a caregiver. I don't know what I'd have done without her.
