Russell from Freedom Garage Doors came and was both very professional and arrived at the time he told me he would. He was friendly and easy to talk with, quick, knowledgeable and I think very fairly priced. We feel fortunate to have crossed paths with this company and will use it for our yearly check ups and whatever might be needed down the road if/when we get new doors.

I chose this company because I personally knew the owner and believed I could trust the quality of the work. Unfortunately, this turned into one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had with a contractor. The project started when the wrong-sized garage door was ordered. That incorrect door was installed without discussing the issue with us first. After the installation, we immediately noticed there were approximately 2–3 inch gaps around the door. When we brought the issue to his attention, we were told it could simply be fixed with weather stripping ( what being honest was taking away the point of a new garage) and that he knew the door was too small and still ordered it without talking to us about this. We demanded the right door to be installed and told it will take 2 weeks. Instead, we had to wait nearly a month for the correctly sized door to arrive and be installed, leaving our garage with large gaps during that time. While waiting for the replacement door, the large openings allowed bugs to enter the garage at a level we had never experienced before. Prior to this project, we would occasionally see a few flies, but after the incorrect door was installed, the bug problem became significant enough that we may now have to hire a pest control company. we also noticed it only had one spring. When we asked about it, we were told that adding the second spring would cost an additional $200. My understanding is that a 16-foot garage door should have two springs for safer and more balanced operation, so I was surprised this was treated as an additional charge instead of being addressed from the beginning. We also experienced unexpected price changes. The weather stripping was originally quoted at $180, but we ultimately paid $300. Another disappointment was that we were assured the new garage door would be so quiet that we would barely hear it. That was not our experience. Communication was also frustrating. I received text messages at 6–7 a.m., and the “Notify Anyway” feature was used to bypass my phone’s Do Not Disturb settings and when I text him about this issue I come to notice he has blocked us. By the time everything was finished, we had spent way more than was estimated not including the extermination services that we had to cover due to the gaps and still dealt with delays, unexpected charges, installation issues, and poor communication. I chose this company because I trusted the owner, but this experience has left me extremely disappointed. I cannot recommend this company based on my experience.
