I hired Top Right Paving (also known as Oakland Paving) to resurface my asphalt sport court for pickleball. The scope of work included leveling low areas as needed, preparing the existing asphalt, installing a 2-inch hot mix asphalt overlay, providing proper compaction with a smooth finish, and maintaining the correct pitch so water would drain toward the north ditch.Unfortunately, the finished product fell far short of what was promised. While some areas of the court turned out acceptably, a portion of the resurfaced surface is rough instead of smooth. There are also ridges that create a trip hazard, and excess asphalt was left along one of the edges. Most concerning, the court now holds a large puddle approximately 28 feet by 8 feet and about 1 inch deep after a rain. The drainage issue leaves the court unusable after rainfall and causes water to sit on the asphalt instead of draining as specified, which can accelerate deterioration of the pavement over time. After the job was completed, I contacted Bill, the owner, and asked him to come out and address the problems. He agreed to come on two separate occasions but never showed up either time. At that point, I was left with no resolution and no confidence that the company stands behind its work.Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Top Right Paving/Oakland Paving. If you're considering hiring them, inspect their work carefully and make sure the finished drainage and surface quality meet the specifications before making final payment.
