CrossFit Erupt

I have been overweight, obese and unfit, from living a very sedentary lifestyle working from behind a desk, and spent weeks debating whether I should even walk into a CrossFit gym. Here in Albury just for 2 weeks, I got out of the car and walked towards the CrossFit Erupt gym with sweat already on my forehead. I was only here for two weeks, and honestly, I was worried I was going to be more of a burden to the coach and the rest of the team than anything else.Fitness has always been quite foreign to me. Coordinating movements while someone is giving you instructions feels so unnatural that, I genuinely felt like I had some sort of disability or dyslexia! But then I walked through the doors. From the very beginning, the welcome made an enormous difference. Al the coach with a friendly handshake, the introduction, and the fact that coach put the gym owner, Jess, on the phone to give me a rundown immediately made me feel at ease. What really stood out to me was the people. The coach was incredibly patient, encouraging and accommodating. Nobody made me feel embarrassed for not knowing what I was doing. Instead, movements were explained repeatedly to help me and support me, demonstrated in a way that made me feel like I actually belonged. The team vibe is something special. Everyone was welcoming, encouraging and genuinely inclusive. I never felt like the new guy. I felt like someone who was simply starting from a different point. That made a huge difference.I came in expecting CrossFit to be intimidating. I left realising that the hardest part was simply getting through the door.If you’re in Albury and wondering whether you’re fit enough, strong enough or experienced enough to walk into CrossFit Erupt, just go in.The team will meet you where you’re at. Also check out their instagram page, plenty of great insights.I’m genuinely grateful for how welcoming and accommodating everyone is. For someone who was extremely hesitant to start, the environment made taking that first step so much easier.Thank you coach Al, owner Jess for accommodating me and the whole team for cheering me on and making me feel welcome on my first day. ☺️
