The one part that is the most overwhelming, is learning all the parts and functions of the truck that you will need to know backwards and forwards for the pre-trip part of the final exam. If anyone asks me I do the full 4 four weeks of school to be equipped with the skills you need to pass and make money, I now have my CLASS A CDL WITH TANKERS AND HAZMAT ENDORSEMENTS! I’m ready to move up in the trucker world!!! And fyi I didn’t pass my first time at the DPS office, not because of the school but my own fault for not doing the two full one minute timers on my brakes air leaks process test lol, the examiner was sad to tell me I failed the first time because my pre-trip was flawless both times I did it, yess I did my complete pre-trip ( selection, coupling, light check and in-cab ) twice before my time was up with 21 mins left on the timer! From the online learning, to the simulators, to the pre-trip group sessions, to the one-on-one behind the wheel training. I would listen to video recordings we took at group sessions while driving, literally everywhere I drove, my radio would be playing pretrip inspection videos. This will without a doubt help you as their "simulator training" is completely unnecessary and a total way to scam an extra 1,000 dollars out of your pocket. The instructors here are really good and do care about your success. Its a shame that the school itself has no idea what true professionalism is. They only care about taking the money from your pocket. They will also cram as many people in a class as possible so that essentially you really wont be able to learn what is necessary. They are quite literally hoping you fail the exam twice so they can charge you an extra and unnecessary fee to use their truck again. This should definitely be included in the money you are already spending. I have held many managment positions within my career and the amount of unprofessionalism here was pretty astounding. If you do use them please just demand your "simulator training" be replaced with actual pre-trip and drive time. You will definitely feel as if you got your money's worth by that happening. Complete waste of time and sad because I had high hopes and in the beginning they seemed nice and full of information but now I'm feeling completely scammedOk so after an long and run around process I'm finally enrolled in the program and will be obtaining my CLP soon due to being able to study only with their program. The computer training and practice test study guides were really great along with the air brake test simulator and the driving simulator. The hands on training in the field with the truck and trailer was top notch. In the field the instructors taught me the correct and safe way to perform pre-trip inspection, in-cab inspection, parallel, offset and straight line backing maneuvers, air brake system tests, then driving while pulling a flatbed trailer. All in all it was an exciting and pleasant experience and learning curve. I paid close attention to everyone and passed all of the tests first time around and earned a Class A CDL. My overall experience I can definitely say was not entirely good. I came to AAA already with a permit because I passed the written exam on my own. I find out that I was charged the same out as if I did not have a permit. And when I started training with them I was subject to learning on a simulator for like a month. I felt that the simulator was too simplistic. Once finally getting on one of their trucks, it felt way different from what I learned on the simulator. I felt like I wasted valuable time that could have been used toward real time driving training. I carefully counted the hours that I paid for in driving training. They gave me one hour extra. From their methods I did learn how to handle the truck well, but ended up not passing the DPS test because AAA did not spend much time with me on Pre-Trip inspections. I am now having to retake my test. DPS has such a back log now that I had to retake after 1 1/2 months. So what do you think my chances of passing will be? For what this review is worth, I would advise someone to go to a school that PTDI endorses or the community college. Or better yet, if you know someone with a truck have them show you maneuvers. However, if you are trying to get your license fast, this place is a good option. Less

Didn't even teach him how to use the freakin' thing. He show up for four weeks and NEVER received a single lesson, instruction or piece of advice from an employee. They sit you in front of a computer and wish you luck. They forgot the date of his driving test ... and then made him call to reserve their own truck. They also went on vacation and cost him a week's worth of training (not from an instructor ... but by sitting in front of their computer) ... without telling him they would be gone. If my brother gets his CDL license, it will have NOTHING do do with instruction here. BTW: they only teach automatic transmission ... another detail they leave out of their misleading propaganda. I couldn't be more disappointed. For those thinking of using this company, don't. Go ahead and pay a little more to get real instruction. I may contact the BBB. To the owner: if you would like me to reconsider my rating, give me a call. You have my number and it is in your records. Let's talk about how much help you have been. I welcome the discussion. If your "school" can get it together before my brother's driving test is complete, I'll reconsider the rating. Update: With two days before my brother's driving test, this company's truck broke down, which cost him not only a day off of his current job, but driving time, as well. He was supposed to be shown the driving course (the guy showed up 1 hour late because the owner was on vacation, again, and forgot to tell his assistant), and seemed annoyed that he had to be there at all. My brother did pass the test and got his CDL license. However, it had very little to do with any help he received at this "school." I am having trouble getting a job. The only way I can get a job is if I know someone that is willing to train someone how to drive manually. I have only found one major company that drives automatics and you still have to have college accredited driving hours.That was very expensive to get a cdl. I could've saved my money and went to HCC or SanJac or Lonestar. Then I would have got a job already.Take this as advice or constructive criticism. You need to switch to manual trucks, get rid of simulator, teach pre and post trip inspection, teach degrees in backing up, and more driving hours. I don't think your business will last without those classes.And before you refute my review, If I wanted to get a job with Swift, Stevens, Pam, Schneider, US Express, USA trucking, and all the other school sponsored companies then why would I spend 1600 dollars on your class if they will provide cdl training.
