A Life-Changing Experience at Raggy Rascals!I recently attended Clare’s workshop at Marsden Community Centre (Sat 7th Feb), specifically for curly-coated dogs, and I am still buzzing from the experience! From the moment I walked in, I knew we were in expert hands. Clare had the space set up beautifully, creating such a calm and welcoming atmosphere—complete with a warm hello and the lovely touch of free tea, coffee, and biscuits.As a Certified Holistic Grooming Behaviourist, Clare’s delivery is nothing short of exceptional. Her workshop on holistic, consent-based grooming was a total eye-opener. She has a gift for explaining the "why" behind a dog’s anxiety during grooming, making it so easy to understand the emotional side of the process. One of the most powerful moments was when she linked "light touch theory" to human behaviour; it was a "lightbulb moment" for everyone in the room and truly brought the session to life!What sets Clare apart is her genuine passion and the way she engages with her audience. She didn’t just speak at us; she truly listened, making every owner feel valued and ensuring we left with the specific answers we had been searching for. At the end, there were some fantastic products available to help make home grooming gentler. I loved that there was absolutely no pressure to buy—just helpful signposting from Clare about the benefits for our dogs’ well-being.The outcome? My dog, Monty, is already booked in for his 'Meet and Treat' to begin his holistic grooming journey. If you want a groomer who prioritises trust, emotional health, and "cooperative care" over just a haircut, I cannot recommend Raggy Rascals highly enough. I visited Claire today for a meet and greet with my 7 year old cockerpoo, who’s always been quite nervous of the groomers.Claire was incredibly knowledgeable! and took her time getting to know Olive whilst explaining how she works and what we can do together to make olives experience better going forward, there was a lot of helpful advice given and we’ll be starting the 6 week course in getting Olive reintroduced to grooming in a way thats going to take the stress and anxiety out of grooming for the both of us!

Just had a meet and greet with Claire and my 2 cockapoos. The immediate changes in their behaviour was unbelievable! In a matter of minutes their focus was on her and not me and by the time 10-15 minutes had passed had them doing things I've not been able to do since adopting them a year ago. We've been visiting Raggy Rascals for about a year and in that time Clare has completely transformed Lola from an anxious dog scared of even being brushed into one who's comfortable being fully groomed and can't wait to run through the door to see her! Clare is so patient and caring, only going at Lola's pace and always making sure she's happy. Clare is absolutely amazing and lovely and I'd highly recommend her.

We first started working with Clare when our golden retriever George was 4 months old and we attended puppy classes. He had a great relationship with her and we continued with Raggy Rascals due to George having a bad puppy groom experience. During this time he barked constantly, he wouldn't let anybody near him with a brush. He showed distress getting a shower and being washed and dried. Since spending time with Clare doing the puppy grooming course at Raggy Rascals and George having regular grooms, we have seen such a change in him. He jumps straight onto Clare's grooming table, is so happy to see her, doesn't mind being groomed, doesn't show distress and seems really happy being there. Would highly recommend Clare, especially if you have a nervous/anxious puppy or dog that struggles with grooming. She's great at what she does!

We first started taking Murphy to Claire when he’d had a scare at his regular groomers and was then terrified. Murphy is deaf and has also now got ‘doggy dementia’. The first big advantage of Claire’s was that I could stay with him and reassure him. There is only ever one dog there at a time so nothing else to worry them. There is no leashing them on a high table, Claire sits on the floor with Murphy and is really tolerant of the fact he keeps needing a wander. Because of his age (nearly 15) and dementia he often has a wee whilst getting showered, also a little poop whilst being groomed once, but Claire takes it all in her stride and the dogs happiness is her main concern. Even though my other dog Flick (same age) had no problems with the normal groomer, she also goes to Claire and is groomed from the floor with me staying with her. I can’t recommend Claire enough, whether your dog has had previous issues at the regular groomer or is just a puppy starting with their grooming, the adaptability and genuine concern for the care of the dog is what Claire does best.

We started taking our very anxious and nervous labrador puppy to Claire a few months back. We did the introduction to grooming course which showed he enjoyed going as he would pull to get there when we pulled up. We now take him on a monthly basis his confidence in being brushed in-between grooming sessions has greatly improved and he always comes out looking his best (fluffy and smelly fresh). Would highly recommend raggy rascals and Claire as she has worked brilliantly with our Gus.

I am studying with the Holistic Grooming Academy and Claire kindly let me attend a grooming session with one of her clients so I could observe her working. It was a great experience, really insightful and helped me see how the principles of the course can be applied in practice, focusing on the needs of each particular dog and what it is and is not comfortable with. Highly recommended!
