I brought a group of 25 people from my church to support what appeared to be a promising local minority-owned business. We came with goodwill, energy, and the intention of spending money while enjoying the space together. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Our group was engaging with the games the shop provided for customers when a young lady they had doing karaoke in TikTok Live became unnecessarily rude and belligerent, insisting that we whisper inside a public business. She repeatedly told us (sitting on the other side of the room) “respect the mic….i can’t,I’m done”. Her mother then went off telling us “obedience is better than sacrifice” implying that we should obey her. Her tone was unprofessional and hostile, especially toward paying customers who were there to support the establishment.I respectfully brought the matter to the owner’s attention, expecting leadership to value customer experience and address it promptly. He stated he would speak with her, but no action was taken while we were there and it only got worse .That communicated indifference more than accountability.A business can have a great concept, but poor customer engagement and failure to manage staff or representatives will drive people away faster than any lack of marketing. I hope they improve, because communities need businesses to succeed, but professionalism and hospitality are not optional.
