It is the perfect balance of structure and enjoyment that allows kids to develop lifelong skills AND enjoy doing so. The instructors there are phenomenal and each bring their own personality to the job while all the while having the same focus and goal for their students....and that is to succeed. Mr. Young is quiet, polite, and possesses that aura of leadership. Ms. Gilmour is fantastic. She relates well to everyone and is able to instruct and teach all ages, which is a rare gift. Mr. Lopez is in a class by himself. He is personable, knowledgeable, funny yet serious when it comes to class. He commands the respect of his students through his ability to teach, coach, encourage and empathize. His skills are second to none and it is often a treat for his students (and parents watching) when he gets to demonstrate a skill he is trying to teach the class. If I haven't made it clear, I wholeheartedly endorse this faction of Karate America. Over the last 9 months my daughter has become more confident and self aware, as well as improving her motor skills. I highly recommend this place for any parent wanting their child to better themselves. Less

I sent an email to cancel services with Karate America over a year ago. Despite this, they continued to bill me for an addition 2 months of no service and sent the account in collections. I'm not paying it and I plan to contact a collections attorney. Why did I want to cancel their services? I sent an email to cancel services with Karate America over a year ago. Despite this, they continued to bill me for an addition 2 months of no service and sent the account in collections. I'm not paying it and I plan to contact a collections attorney. Why did I want to cancel their services? It's impossible to work with them for billing because whenever you talk to them, they "need to talk to corporate about it" and never get back to you. Billing disputes are impossible to solve because no one can ever seem to contact anyone in corporate to solve any sort of billing issues. It's like they use the "talk to corporate" response to shut down any argument over billing problems. They usually have other students teach the students karate, and in one particular incident a Gonzales decided to make my kid perform 20 pushups because she "wasn't performing." Well If I wanted to take her to bootcamp I would pick one that had a better billing system. Also, they make you order a ton of unnecessary gear that you can get for much cheaper on Amazon. Oh yeah, during the summer time when they have Mr Lopez run karate class and summer boot camp he's overly frustrated and has a short fuse because he's working all day long with these kids for nearly 12 hours straight. That's a lot of time no breaks and understandably he gets frustrated. But is that a environment that you, as a parent, would want your kids to partake in? EDIT: Might I add that the collections firm, instead of bothering to collect said debt, they sent it to a credit reporting agency. I took the evidence I have proving the account was cancelled and gave it to the credit reporting agency and they removed it from my credit report. Just keep that in mind when you sign up with this company, that you're risking your credit when there is any billing disputes. Less
