Staff is very welcoming everytime I come(literally twice a week) lol. The owner Journey is one of a kind. Always makes sure everyone is taken care of and walks around and speaks to guest at each table to make sure the food is up to par. I’d highly recommend coming here with family or just yourself. You’ll feel the Love as soon as you walk in.

Terrible food and painfully slow service in an empty restaurantWe visited Grits and Waffles on Wilshire and Vermont this past Thursday, and it was a complete mess from start to finish. Despite the restaurant being completely empty when we walked in, service was painfully slow. It took forever to be greeted, and even longer for our food to come out.When the food finally arrived, it was practically inedible:* Cold & Burnt: Both orders of bacon were burnt to a crisp, and the scrambled eggs were stone cold.* Soggy Waffle: My waffle was completely drenched in a runny, excessive topping that turned it into liquid mush.* Peanut Brittle Sausage: The chicken sausage patty was cold, rock-hard, and overcooked to the point that it looked like peanut brittle.To make matters worse, basic table essentials were missing—no salt, pepper, condiments, or napkins. When I asked for salt, pepper, and an extra plate, our waitress took forever to return and still forgot the plate.When I let her know we couldn’t eat the food, the only upside was that she comped the bill and didn't make us pay. Still, free bad food and terrible service don't make up for a ruined meal. Save your money and go somewhere else.

The server is such a light in the room, but the hostess is completely different demeanor .As a person who works in the restaurant industry If I was a hostess I would keep in mind that you’re the first thing customers see .Other than that the food was delicious and server was the best ! It looked like he was doing everything taking orders, making drinks, serving them , and still making sure people were good .

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10 HANDS DOWN! 🔥After completing my annual Lupus Walk, a friend and I decided to grab brunch. Little did I know this GEM was literally around the corner from my house! WHAT A DANGEROUS DISCOVERY! 😂I ordered the Kiki Palmer, which I absolutely loved because we don’t know who Arnold is, but WE KNOW WHO KIKI IS! 😂👏🏽 The lavender iced tea? FIRE!Now, let’s talk about those fried green tomatoes! Fried to absolute perfection! Thin slices, not those thick, overly battered ones. You get about 6–7 slices, practically a whole tomato! Served with ranch and an aioli sauce that is TO DIE FOR! I need that sauce bottled and sold immediately!For my entrée, I ordered the fried catfish and grits. Listen, I don’t even LIKE catfish, but BABY! That fish was seasoned and fried to perfection! And those grits? Made RIGHT! Black folks, you know exactly what I mean! 🤌🏽🔥My ONLY complaint is that the restaurant is a little small inside. Hopefully, they’ll eventually expand into a bigger space because they absolutely deserve it!Other than that, this place has officially made my brunch, lunch, AND dinner rotation! We visited the establishment October 3, 2026 and our reservation was for 1:00 for a party of nine.Original Post::::::::We visited Gritz and Wafflez for my daughter’s birthday brunch with a party of nine. Our reservation was for 1:00 p.m., but we were not seated until 1:52 p.m. We waited outside for those 52 minutes in 101-degree heat, which made the wait especially uncomfortable.Once seated, I let our waitress know that we needed separate checks. Our entrées did not arrive until almost 3:00 p.m., and some of the food was cold. We ended up not eating much of our entrées. Just as we received our food, a hostess began sweeping the rug near our table. Since we were seated beside the hostess area, it was close to our food and made us uncomfortable.Our check, which covered four people from the group, also included an automatic large-party gratuity. I have no problem tipping. I understand that times are hard and every little bit matters. I was simply surprised that the large-party gratuity applied even with separate checks, and I would have appreciated an explanation beforehand.A gentleman seated behind us suggested that the service might have been affected by the owner not being there. I do not know whether that was the case, but I hope the service can be consistent regardless of who is present.I did not ask for a manager or request a refund. Supporting Black-owned businesses matters to me, and I want to see them flourish. At the same time, this experience was disheartening, especially because we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday.I understand that busy days happen, and I share this hoping these concerns will be addressed. I would love for our next visit to be a better experience.

The food was amazing. My first time here. I would recommend. Nice atmosphere. Customer service 10 out of 10. The staff were attentive and efficient. Food came out hot just as described on the menu. Lavender tea was so good.
