Danny is a fantastic guitar teacher. He works with you at your own pace, customizing his lessons to your goals and preferred genres. When you have tough weeks and don't have as much time to practice, there is no shame or scolding. He helps you where you are. It is rare to find a teacher with this much talent, knowledge, and passion for his subject, with an equal amount of kindness and genuine interest in you and your well-being. I had the opportunity to take guitar lessons with Danny at BYU–Idaho for several years, and I can't recommend him highly enough. He played a huge role in improving my technique, especially my fingerstyle playing, and consistently challenged me to become a better musician without ever making lessons feel overwhelming.One of the things I appreciated most was how flexible he was. If there was a song I wanted to learn, he was always willing to teach it, whether sheet music existed or not. When it didn't, we'd work together to transcribe and write it out, which taught me a lot about music beyond just playing the notes. On the other hand, if I didn't have a specific piece in mind, he always had something prepared that was exactly the right level to stretch my abilities and help me keep improving.Danny is an excellent guitarist, a patient teacher, and someone who genuinely cares about his students' progress. I'm grateful for everything I learned from him and would enthusiastically recommend him to anyone looking to improve their guitar playing.

I took guitar lessons from Danny Heslop at BYUI. I had an awesome experience! He molded the lessons to what I wanted to learn. When I wanted to learn a song, he was able to listen to it and then teach me how to play it. He is incredibly competent, cares about what you care about, and is skilled at explaining things simply and motivating you to improve.

Danny was a great teacher of mine from 2018-2021 I learned a variety of techniques from him especially jazz. He even helped me with some neil young songs that I enjoyed listening to. Now, I am still playing and jamming whenever I can. I even released a single with my band as a guitar player. So, we all have to start somewhere and Danny is a great teacher and a great guitar player to boot.
