My experience with Marzena has been miraculous! I came in after trying what felt like everything to reduce my tmj pain and tension. I had gotten a night guard, done two rounds of physical therapy, saw a chiropractor, did dry needling, and got botox. Within my first session, where we mostly discussed the issue and did about 10 minutes of hands on work, I could tell a difference which allowed my jaw to relax a little bit and open wider. It was amazing! I have continued and after 3 hands-on sessions the tension in my neck has disappeared and my jaw tension is relaxing with results lasting a few days. I have been working with Marzena for several months now to treat severe TMJ pain and migraines. I was having 4-5 migraines a week. I came in with severe TMJ pain. Daily headaches, clicking, popping, limited movement, neck/shoulder/back/face/head pain. Truly unbearable. Marzena sat down with me, listened to all my complaints, and then showed me specific exercises I can do at home to help with the pain. She then massaged all the tense areas, from my back to my face, while being gentle enough to not cause more pain. She even massaged inside my mouth, which sounds a little weird, but was incredibly helpful for the facial muscles. I didn’t get this kind of help at the dental spa or physical therapist I saw. The day after my massages, there is no headache and my mouth/jaw is able to move more freely with less pain. She checks in with me after my appointments to make sure I’m doing okay. She is also open late & has weekend appointments, which makes the process so much easier as I don’t have to take time off work just to take care of this medical need. I've has chronic pain in my body for years. Zero Point Balancing therapy helped, acupuncture helped a lot, but I still couldn't get rid of the re-occuring pain. After two visits with Marzena, my pain subsided for the longest its ever been (as far as I can tell - its been three weeks since my last appointment). I have both TMJ/neck/back pain and random flare-ups all on the left side, and have gone through a variety of treatments (including... botox! which didn't work at all for me). The number of flare-ups had increased, and I wanted to keep trying new things to combat the pain, or at least manage it better. Treatment here has helped so much! I started out once a week, now once every other week. One of the most important things I took from the treatment was that I wanted to make sure I kept up with stretching/movement/etc in between appointments to prevent pain as much as possible which has helped a ton in decreasing the pain/flare-ups overall. I'm so glad I came here, because my pain is so much better and more manageable! This has been a very effective method for me to better manage/help eliminate pain. A few weeks ago I woke up with horrendous jaw pain on my left side, which I never felt before. By chance, I had a dentist appointment that same day. As soon as I walked in, the Dentist noticed that my jaw was swollen, they could not even perform a teeth cleaning until I took Advil. The Dentist immediately diagnosed me with TMJ and fit me for a night guard (I haven't gotten to pick it up yet). In the days after, the jaw pain got worse. I was unable to chew, had awful headaches every day by 3 pm (to the point where i was nauseous) and was having difficulty staying asleep. I saw reviews for Back to Touch, and immediately booked an appointment for a few days later. Marenza spent a long time understanding my complete medical history and background. She also made it very clear to me that massage should be therapeutic, not torture. She wanted me to trust her, particularly b/c part of the treatment for TMJ includes massage inside the mouth (which went along with what the Dentist said). She is clearly very knowledgeable about her craft, and studies hard to make sure she is an expert on treatment. She let me know I might be sore, which I was slightly for the next two days. The third day after my massage, I was 80% better, with literally no headaches. A week after the massage, I was 85% better. Most of my jaw pain today only happens when I first open my mouth in the morning. She also checked in on me a couple days after the massage which really made me feel like she cares about helping her patients. Finally, Marenza did a lot of work on my back and neck, which also feel better, when going to a chiropractor did not really help. I highly suggest if you suffer from TMJ pain (or any other pain) to try Back to Touch Massage. It is a holistic approach that effectively treats pain.
