The Fit Lab

Sean P at FitLab completely changed my perspective on weightlifting. For most of my life I had little to no interest in lifting. I was very intimidated by other lifters, and by the simplicity of the equipment and the apparent need for great amounts of knowledge to use it effectively and safely. I imagined lifters were unwelcoming and although I enjoyed various sports, I rarely added resistance training beyond warmups and bodyweight exercises. Finally deciding to try was a big step for me, and when I started about two years ago, my goals were simple: lose fat, gain muscle, and learn to deadlift. I had always wanted to be confident when lifting heavy things, and had recently had a problem with my back due to lifting a bunch of boats during a paddling event. I needed to strengthen up to recover, and I wanted to get to a point where I could lift my body weight or more, without problems. This week, I did three lifts of 275lbs, a PR, and way above my current bodyweight. More importantly, I had fun during this whole journey. Sean and his team make sure I keep my form safe and clean, challenge me, but also they’re all legitimately great people. They’re fun and welcoming, and the attitude from everyone at the FitLab is welcoming and friendly. Everyone cheers you on.If you’re thinking about trying something like this out, do it. You might find a place you love, and results that’ll make your life better.
