What an asthetic dinner spot. Very walkable location and great service (aside from the host at the front who made us wait 35 minutes to be seated when our table was open the whole time). Also the music was ridiculously loud. I get the club atmosphere after 12am but ease into it. I was deaf before the appetizers made it out to our table. Couldn’t talk to anyone comfortably.Everything is a bit overpriced too but it’s a fun one time place.

It was our first time in Chicago, and our friends brought us here. The atmosphere, staff, and food were excellent. Certainly well worth a visit.

I loved this place!!! We went on a Saturday night and the atmosphere, food, and service were excellent. We truly felt like we found a hidden gem in Chicago. I ordered the vodka pasta and added chicken and it was probably one of my favorite vodka pastas I have ever had. We loved the live music and vibe of the restaurant and I already can't wait to return.

Beautiful Ambience, Worst Service I’ve Ever ExperiencedI had been looking forward to Banter Supper Club for months — the atmosphere was absolutely stunning, and the polite host made a great first impression. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there.Our waitress was overly confident in her “fun” introduction, but the real issues started when I hesitated to order my cocktail as I was looking at the menu. She rolled her eyes and huffed directly in front of my friend so I ordered the first thing I came to mind so I didn’t waste her time. Which was a Cosmo, but received an espresso martini instead. When I sent it back, it took 40 minutes to receive the correct drink — which turned out to be mostly lemon juice with a splash of cranberry. I broke three weeks of sobriety for that 😆.Food service was even worse. Orders were wrong, neighboring tables didn’t get their drinks (they got up and left after waiting an hour for their birthday celebration to begin), and another table that arrived after us got their food instantly. Our own dinner never came, despite the waitress asking us again what we had ordered an hour later!! By midnight, still without food, we asked for the check — which took another 25 minutes to arrive, only after we got up to leave.What should have been a polished, last-night of the Banter supper club for them felt like complete chaos!!! I wouldn’t waste my money here. Gorgeous place, but easily the worst dining experience I’ve had in Chicago. We drove down from milwaukee for this and we are bartenders so we understand the industry and were very patient but this was completely unacceptable. We ate dinner at kwik trip on the way home. 😭

Mark was AMAZING! TJW Experience it only set the mood but also gave a personal birthday song for the birthday girl. The food was 1000 out of 10! The drinks were just right. Dessert was delish. We will be back for Happy Hour!

Celebrated my birthday at Divan in Chicago and it was amazing! The live jazz band was incredible and even gave me a personal serenade, thanks John! — such a special touch. Great food, warm atmosphere, and unforgettable service.

We had a great night at this restaurant. The place looked amazing and had a swanky, romantic vibe. The food was delicious. We loved everything we ordered. Octopus and crab cakes were to die for:The best part of the night was the live jazz band!! Called The John Wesley Experience. Their music was incredible and made the whole evening feel special. No place in the city quite like this.

Service was great. Mark was excellent. The food though was over priced, and under seasoned. Tried the crab cake, ceasar salad, octopus, ribeye, salmon, and rigatoni. Everything was just ok. A little underwhelming. The ribeye was the toughest I ever had to chew. The ambiance and service was the most enjoyable part. Would come back just for cocktails.

Definitely not worth the price. What happened to the menu? No Mac and cheese? No greens? No Brussels sprouts? No garlic shrimp…. Everything on the menu except the steak is probably precooked and sitting in pans in the back. What is wrong with the hostess’ bad attitude? Definitely not worth the trip or the 20% gratuity with a 4% restaurant charge. Music was good though. Definitely a spot for cocktails only.

Worst customer service, sitting there as if we were invisible just for being Latino. More than two hours to get a drink, looking at other people getting their food and drinks after coming after our table. When we said we were not okay with the service and we were considering g leaving our server just said okay picked up the plates and walked away.what an experience!

My wife and I had dinner at Divan Chicago, and while we had a good time, I'm not sure we'd go back for dinner. The pastas we ordered were fresh and delicious, and the desserts and cocktails were phenomenal. The building itself is stunning and the live jazz was a great touch, though I wish the band started playing earlier than 8:30 pm.Service was alright but also came across a bit transactional, which was probably because of the mandatory 20% gratuity (which I usually tip anyway) and extra 4% restaurant fee. For the price, I wanted the staff to make the experience feel a bit more special. Overall, it's a cool spot for drinks and music, but with all the other options in the area, I think there are better spots for dinner at this price point.
