I reached out to Virginia Kel9 for help with training my Shepherd. I was at my wits end with him and needed help. Kelly took the time to listen to my concerns and we made arrangements for training. Kelly picked him up and sent me updates throughout his 3 weeks with her. He learned so much and he is a completely different dog. I understand that I need to continue reinforcing what he has learned to keep his training going but Trainer Kelly is super helpful with any questions and support needed after he came home. This was a positive experience overall and I highly recommend Virginia Kel9 to dog parents.

Kelly worked wonders with my boy Cooper and I could tell that he absolutely enjoyed his time with her. He came back to me knowing his basic commands and was a well behaved and well mannered dog. She was available any time I had a question and loved my boy like her own. I cannot thank her enough for the work that she put into Cooper and how happy we are that we chose her. I spent weeks calling local dog trainers and talking to them about my concerns and goals and when it came down to it I felt like Kelly at virginia kel 9 was the only one who actually listened to what I was saying and had real answers with real solutions. I had a working line german shepherd who had the common reactivity you see in this kind of dog and so Kelly took him under her wing fir her 2 week board and train and let me tell you something. This dog shows zero reactivity when out in public now. We walk every morning at a park packed full of dogs and people walking by and while the other dogs are lunging and barking and going crazy at my boy he keeps his head straight and keeps on pushing like they don't even exist. I couldn't be more happy! Thank you Kelly!

I can’t say enough good things about Kelly and her team at Virginia Kel9 LLC. I’ve entrusted them with training five of my dogs—yes, you read that right: four rambunctious Presa Canario puppies and one very opinionated Rat Terrier Chihuahua adult. Kelly worked her magic on all of them.The puppies came back fully potty trained, knew their placement commands, walked beautifully on a leash, and followed obedience cues like seasoned pros. My adult dog, who had a flair for ignoring commands, now responds reliably to obedience, placement, and recall—a transformation I never thought possible.What really sets Kelly apart is her ongoing support. Kelly is not only the epitome of professional excellence, but a true master of her craft. It’s clear that she has chosen this line of work not for profit, but because of her undeniable dedication to training dogs and giving their owners peace of mind. I adopted a pit mix who had been re-homed several times and in the midst of that, he had developed some issues that I could not fix on my own. She helped me tremendously with his reactivity and separation issues, which has given me the gift of living with my best friend peacefully and harmoniously. She also took the time to train me as well, answering every single silly question I had with a huge smile on her face. Every dog I have in the future will go through programs with Kelly. Simply put, she doesn’t just train dogs, she’ll transform your life. TLDR: Receiving training services from Kelly has been a great experience. We have had two of our dogs trained in the past 4 years by her, and we will be scheduling more as her services expand.Background: Our first dog which was trained by Kelly was a 7 year old Lab/Pit mix. Our primary reasons for training was his overexcitement and disobedience, especially when walking. Post training (on leash) my (3 at the time) daughter was able to walk him. He understood a wealth of commands and was much better behaved. Eventually, we completed the advanced training for him when he was 8, and this was an off leash course. Since Kelly trained our first dog, we have utilized her kennel services (as well) in which she always “re-baselines” his training and gets him back on track where we slack. We utilize her kennel services 2 to 3 times a year and have found to have a much happier and healthy dog upon pickup. Fast forward to this past year, we added a 60lb Poodle/lab/golden retriever to our family. She was about 8 months when we handed her over for training. Between lunging, hard pulling, general inability to focus on a single thing, she was nearly untrainable for us. We placed her in Kelly`s hands for her on-leash course and were returned a dog who was able to sit and stay in place, focus, not pull on walks, and able to be much more well behaved. We have since been able to train her some other tricks since which has not been something we could have done before. One thing also that we love about Kelly and how she handles business, is she always asks about what we want to see change in our dogs behavior (counter surfing, jumping on people, etc) and will incorporate this tailored training to our dogs. She not only meets the scope of service, but goes beyond it when able to do so.In summary, Kelly`s professionalism and her ability to be personable has made her into someone we can contract for services, and trust with our furry family members. She works with our schedule nearly always and has always provided a solution to anything we have thrown her way. Between our foreign country trips (usually 2x a year) to short term stays, she is always there to support and provide her services. So long as she is working with dogs, we will provide her ours for their training. The cost has been worth it for us, and we have zero regrets.
