My dog, Maya, has been going to Jolene since she was a tiny pup, and here we are a year later and I couldn’t be happier with what we’ve leaves this far. My dog, being a staffy, already has a bad stigma for the way she looks, Jolene has helped me work really hard with maya so we can break that bad rep that staffies have. That these dogs can be trained if you put the work into them. Maya has learned so much and the one on one lessons helped me work on her recall, leaving dogs alone, not reacting to other dogs passing by, jumping on people and even her lead walking ! Even though she’s still a pup, her behavior has changed so much and I’ve noticed how much disciplined she is thanks to everything Jolene has taught us. We have a 3 (almost 4) y/o pointer cross who is also a Romanian rescue (prey drive is extreme!!!), she would pull on the lead (almost had me over many times) and no recall at all. Jolene suggested I might want to consider a flexible approach with another collect and train session to give Dave another positive experience and then some walk and train sessions to train both myself and Dave together. Jolene is so good at understanding dogs and explaining what to do and why. With her flexible training plan both Dave and myself were enjoying our time out together with Jolene supporting us. I was kind of trying to do the right training but soon realised I hadn’t got it quite right and was giving up in frustration but Jolene explains things in a way it encourages rather than making you feel like a bad parent. Dave goes out with me as much as I can take him now, I actively look for dog friendly cafes and shops, unless it’s rainy as he doesn’t do wet not even for time with me! We are still practicing but there has only been the odd slip with his behaviour every now and then but he immediately stops. It’s changed him, my husband couldn’t believe the difference in his behaviour when we took Dave out shopping. No barking or thrashing about and I was calm. This whole change took a matter of a week of training and I wish I had called Jolene in sooner. The skills I learnt are easily transferable to my other dog who has lead anxiety due to having surgery on her knees. I am a more confident pet mum with now two more confident happy dogs. Less
