Second round: This time my right shoulder. Been working with Oleta, she's great and professional and working to get my shoulder back to being without pain. First round: I had a possible meniscus tear in my right knee and was in pain and forgot how to walk right. Julian worked out the kinks starting on day 1 and Matthew has been working with my knee and it feels a 100% better. He had been able to determine the source of my knee discomfort and was able to zero in on what we can do to make it better. As a result I am back to doing Pilates and now very aware of how I move my knee in order to prevent future injuries. Also what stretch to do when it hurts in certain places. My experience at Focus has been great! This was my third trip there in the past 7 years and I would not go anyplace else for PT. My recent treatment was for a VERY stubborn case of plantar fasciitis in addition to arthritis in my toe area. Olita provided a deep, therapeutic massage to the trapezius muscle and asked for feedback constantly on the progress of the therapy. I’m 48 and I’ve had daily pain in my right arm for about 2 years. I haven’t been able to participate in most of my usual activities because of the pain and I’d kind of resigned myself to live with it. I'm going through a course of StemWave treatment for a knee replacement performed at SCOS orthopedic by Dr. Abraham Kim in 2020. I'm attempting to avoid a third surgery on the same knee to eradicate the pain that has been associated with this surgery. So far in 4 years this is the first time I have not known I had a knee replacement. There still is some swelling that is getting much better and based upon my progress thus far I have to say, I will reach my goal. The software therapy and the laser therapy were not the right choices for me, as recommended by Focused Therapy. I initially went there seeking help for my lower back pain and sciatic nerve pain. I described to them the stabbing burning sensation in my legs, and they suggested about 10 soft therapy sessions. Unfortunately, my condition worsened after starting the therapy. I recommend doing thorough research to determine the most suitable therapy for your specific needs before trying a new system. The staff at Focused Therapy are wonderful, with great therapists like Julian and excellent front desk service from Cici. However, this type of therapy may not be suitable for everyone, and more research is necessary. Thank you. Less

I highly recommend Focus Physical Therapy!! I was experiencing extreme pain, very limited mobility and loss of strength in my shoulder. This prompted complete shoulder replacement surgery. Focus (Julian and Alyssa) were instrumental in my rehabilitation and recovery. I had a Knee Replacement it was my 5th knee surgery. I’m not an easy patient. I get a lot of inflammation. Needless to say I spent a lot of time at Focus PT. Very kind and supportive she really got me working hard early in my treatment. She was always making sure I was not in too much pain. She was very helpful. I also worked a lot with Julian. He is a bit more aggressive if you are ready for that . He is great at trying different things to see what works best at different stages of recovery. Then there is Alyssa PT assistant. I have been treated at many different PT practices over the years, and I like Focus Physical Therapy the most of all of them. All of the therapists and assistants, and staff are great, very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. And the office itself is aesthetically nice, with a good set up. Some PT places have all the tables set up next to each other in an open room, so you have little to no privacy. But here, each therapist has a semi private room so you can talk without other patients overhearing or seeing things. They offer many types of treatments, including hands-on, exercises, laser, and StemWave. I went in for help recovering from foot surgery, and made a huge amount of progress over my time there. Less

I'm very active and have been training for a marathon since Nov 2019. I've been to my fair share of chiropractors, PTs and massage therapists. What a GIFT it was when I found Julian at Focus PT before I began my focused training for the 2022 Chicago Marathon. Julian listened to me, evaluated where my imbalances existed and treated me to prevent injury and resolved issues that popped up during my training. Olita and the staff have provided me with expert care following a torn rotator cuff and extreme pain from a pinched neck nerve. Olita’s mastery of tissue mobilization combined with gentle stretching has dramatically improved my quality of life. And the routine of exercises, stretching and strength conditioning not only help during my appointments, but have set me up to manage my physical health on my own. I had wonderful experience at Focus Physical Therapy being treated for my left ankle post surgery and arthritis issues. The hands-on treatment by Olita eased the pain and stiffness in my ankle. Now I could walk better, go down the stairs and even sleep better. Olita prescribed me special exercises that strengthen my feet. The therapists helping with exercises are also very caring, patient and kind. First, Olita would do a deep massage in the ankle and calf area and it gradually releases the muscle tension that was brought by pain. Next, having the ankle muscle relaxed by the massage, I would do special exercises to increase flexibility and build the strength in the ankle. And the last part was the ice applied during electro stimulation of the painful area. The ten cycles of that treatment made a huge difference in my ability to use my left foot without pain. That is my second time at Focus Physical Therapy. I was treated here by Olita 2 years ago and had very good results and decided to come here again. Moreover, I live in Dana Point and it is a half an hour drive each way for me, but it is entirely worth it. Olita is very knowledgeable and attentive therapist and cares about the patient. The entire team, from the receptionists to therapist assistants have very high standards in caring for patients, work effectively and very well organized. Absolutely fantastic place! Julian and his team were so helpful. I had chronic knee pain for years and thought I had severely injured it. I read that physical therapy can work wonders even for severe injuries... so I gave it a try. Was amazed to find out that specific movements and foam rolling was all that was needed to fix this (the pain was severe and I thought there was something substantially wrong). What I really appreciated about this whole process was that they are willing to go through the effort to teach you how to resolve your pain at home. I went to another local practice because I thought all PT was equal. Within 2 sessions I realized I was wrong. And with the advice of my nurse, I fired them. Had a total right knee replacement 14 years ago, the scar tissue caused the discomfort on my right knee for many years. After visiting half a dozen orthopedic surgeons and X-ray on the right knee during those years, the diagnosis of the replaced knee was always, "The replacement is fine." Finally I visited Dr. Nader Nassif from the Newport Orthopedic Institute this year, Dr. Nassif just recommended Physical Therapy and no revision surgery. Had received several service from Focus Physical Therapy before and very satisfied, so I chose this provider again. In the past I couldn't get an appointment with Julian, who is the owner of this out fit. Finally I was very fortunate to make all my appointments ahead and have the care from Julian. Julian used ASTYM, Laser, and Massage to finally get rid of my scar tissue from my right knee, which had been built up for these years. I really appreciate his treatment, professionalism and care. Came to Focus PT because I was having some discomfort in my knees while at the gym doing leg workouts, and it was beginning to bleed into my everyday life such as recreational soccer/tennis and even just walking up and down stairs. My first day there, Julian explained exactly what was up with my knees and we put together a game-plan to get me back to a level of comfort to where I could live a healthy, active lifestyle without any discomfort! During my time there I learned a lot about the human body from both him and Olita, and was given a lot of guidance with getting back to the level I wanted to be at! Ive had shoulder pain for over a year and had a cortisone shot, but still it wasn't getting any better. I went to Focus Physical therapy and decided to try their laser therapy. My experience at Focus PT has been wonderful. I started PT there to build strength around my arthritic hip. The PT helped a lot with my strength and mobility until it was time for a hip replacement, which I had a year ago. I then had more PT sessions at Focus after the surgery which I feel has enhanced my recovery. I'm super grateful to Julian and Nona, my physical therapists. After knee surgery for an insufficiency fracture and a minor meniscus tear I attended physical therapy (PT) at a different facility. I was able to strengthen my knee, but I was still experiencing pain when I moved certain ways. I hoped the pain would eventually go away, but it did not. I began to believe that I would always have this pain. Then my wife began attending Focus Physical Therapy in Rancho Santa Margarita for PT for her shoulder issue. She told me that Julian was really making a difference in her case and that I should try PT again at Focus PT. I began PT sessions there and it has really helped. Julian’s approach is far different from what most PT centers offer. He spends 20 to 30 minutes each session performing hands on manipulation of the affected area. He works to get to the cause of the pain. He then focuses on manipulating muscle and tissue with the goal of realigning the joint and muscles and strengthening the surrounding muscles that support the joint. He then prescribes exercises that are specifically selected to both strengthen and re-train the muscles and their support tissues for your specific case. You are not just given generic exercises for the knee. Since I began with Focus Physical Therapy I have seen remarkable improvement. My pain has diminished a lot and the types of movements or incidents that cause the pain are fewer. I feel confident that my pain will be completely gone by the time I finish my sessions. I seldom write reviews, but I felt that I really needed to write this review so that I can help others who may be in search of quality physical therapy. I have undergone physical therapy three times including this current time. My first experience close to ten years ago was just alright. I am currently suffering from frozen shoulder due to a bad fall. I had five sessions at another physical therapy clinic here in Rancho Santa Margarita, where I was NOT getting better. I then decided to switch and try Focus Physical Therapy per recommendation by an acupuncturist, Dr. Ghaffarian. What a difference! I have now had four sessions with Julian Manrique of Focus Physical Therapy and it has made a world of difference in my condition. I am rapidly getting better with each session. From the very first visit, I knew that Julian was a different type of physical therapist. He is a hands on guy who works with the patient for nearly 30-minutes before you are turned over to an aide to help you perform the exercises and undergo heat or cold pack treatments, electrical stimulation, etc. During my initial evaluation session with Julian, he did a deep tissue massage and manipulated my shoulders using both his hands and equipment. After just that first session I felt far better than when I had walked in the door and far far better than after undergoing five sessions of physical therapy at the other clinic! The treatment at that other clinic in RSM was a joke. The therapist just massaged me for 1 minute then left me with the aide. The aide would quickly teach me the exercises then leave me alone to perform those exercises. Both the therapist and aide where nowhere around to check on me to see whether I was doing the exercises correctly. I felt I was better off doing my exercises at home since I was being left alone anyway. I can understand if there are many patients but I was the only patient four out of my five visits and there were only two of us in my one visit out of the five. I was very discouraged I thought all physical therapy clinics operated the same until I met Julian Manrique of Focus Physical Therapy. I call Julian a magician! After Julian worked on me the first time, we tested my range of motion and my arm strength. Wow, my range of motion and my arm strength had already improved a great deal in just half a session! My husband who came with me to my first session witnessed the whole thing and was himself astounded. Julian and Focus Physical Therapy is the real deal. I believe I have found a physical therapist for life. I believe my frozen shoulder condition will be resolved very quickly with Julian, and if I ever need to undergo physical therapy again in the future I will definitely choose Julian of Focus Physical Therapy. I am a patient during the Coronavirus and the office is top notch at keeping me safe. When I am in the waiting room I see them cleaning and they clean after each exercise use of equipment.. After having shoulder pain for almost a year, I went to the Rotator Cuff Workshop offered by Foxus Physical Therapy. I’ve never done PT before but I signed up to come in the next morning to start. After my first visit, the intense shoulder pain was greatly reduced. I’ve been going for almost three weeks now and my pain is almost completely gone. Now my physical therapist, Laura W., is working on rebuilding strength in my muscles to keep the shoulder pain away. I love the exercises with Andrina, and she makes sure I understand how to do them correctly so I can do them at home as well. Rachel at the front desk is so friendly and helpful, and all the staff- the other therapists and aides- are great too.
