Patrick intalled them. The wall in my kitchen were not perfect flat and he had to do some additional adjustments. Following an extensive search for a company to remodel our kitchen we concluded Zen Living Kitchen & Bath, was by far the best, The Zen on line brochure was impressive as well the stepped process, from start to finish.Our phone call to Zen was directed to Ron Wong who was very helpful in clarifying issues we raised; paramount, his recommendation of a General Contractor, Lelo Ltd.Ron was right on time for the appointment at our home and following a few visits thereafter and lay out drawings, a final plan was delivered on a larger than normal scale, for us seniors.We visited the Zen showroom which in essence reflects the brochure contents. Ron was exceedingly helpful in assisting us in making our choices for all the components that would furnish the kitchen. He was patient, understanding, articulate with the subject matter that gave us the necessary confidence.In time, the order was built and the installation scheduled. An inspection followed and all the minor itemized imperfections made good. All they told me in the end is "sorry, we do not carry this style anymore". Anyone who is thinking of posting a review, wait a year to see what happens to your cabinets before you do so. In reply to Zen's response below, this sounds like empty platitudes and it is untrue that you don't have my email. I had an email trail on this issue spanning 2 years. We made countless phone calls (most were ignored) and finally had one of your service people come out to take a look at the flawed finish. We were repeatedly brushed off and dismissed with "past the warranty period" and "sunlight damage" excuses. Regardless, the photos attached say it all! This should NEVER happen with quality cabinets. Zen should explain to those reading this review, what exactly is going on in the attached photos. Also, your 2 year warranty does not even come close to Ikea's 25 year warranty so not sure how you can claim it "surpasses industry standards". And I'd gladly call Zen (tell me who to ask for) if you can assure me here that this will finally be rectified. Update... as of March 13, 2024 still no word from Zen Living about rectifying their glaring mistake. Less

The kitchen looks quite nice if you do not look up close at the finishing details. I can only imagine that every job interview for every staff member went exactly like this.. Interviewer: "Do you have any experience or knowledge at how to do this job?" Applicant: "No. I have absolutely no idea how to do this job. I couldn't even guess how to do it." Interviewer: "You're hired." Applicant: "Will I get on-the-job training?" Interviewer: "No. You will not." The ineptitude at all levels was astounding. For a while I thought I may have been on a Truman Show style reality series because it did not seem a company that was this bad at everything would still be in business. Our salesman was excellent, and the quality of cabinets is good, this review is based mostly on the quartz install and follow up from the service department which has soured the whole experience with this company. We used them for 2 straightforward jobs in dining room and closet, to see if we would hire them for our kitchen. Recommend on the cabinet side, steer clear on the quartz install! Extremely poor install job with unsightly seams, and the closet piece not cut correctly at there shop, which lead to them cutting into the drywall to making it fit and damaging closet doors along the way. We have emailed in 3 times and took the service team over a month to respond with there’s nothing they can do. We knew there had to be a seam, however you’d be better off hiring someone off Kijiji, the seam is so poorly done, and quartz not cut correctly. Also the follow up time of one month to respond is completely unacceptable. We tried to shop local as they are a Calgary company, better off for quartz install to go big box, at least you can get service work done and a response back!! Less

We were told by the driver that our handles were on back order, and he had no further information. When I called the company, they also had no information and said they would be delivered whenever they came in, no estimated delivery date. After three weeks of hearing nothing, we emailed to follow up and were told they were there and we had to come and pick them up. They were not going to be delivered as first stated. The sales person was top notch but the service was lack luster after that. We won't be returning for our kitchen reno. Less

Had high hopes for using Zen Living for our kitchen island design and construction. Sales appointment with Michelle went well and we left excited with our design. We had planned extensive kitchen renovations for our new home before we were planning on moving in end of August. The island didn’t arrive on the delivery date booked - Michelle said the paperwork somehow didn’t make it to the production team and nothing had been built even though we designed and purchased the island weeks ago. Although she rushed the new delivery, we were 5 days behind schedule because of the paperwork mishap. Components of the island were missing when it got delivered and had to be couriered later that day. Because of this frustrating delay, we couldn’t have countertops or sinks installed prior to our move in which complicates our family’s day-to-day activities. We counted on Zen Living not to go above and beyond but to deliver a good product on time. When asking in regards to compensation for the delay not just for the island delivery, our contractor’s time (and our money) and the delay of our entire kitchen renovation, Michelle stated the company isn’t “in the habit” of providing the same. Disappointed with this company and unfortunately cannot recommend them in the future. Less

There was an issue with our crown moulding being a different color than the cabinets below in our two toned kitchen. I brought it up and was immediately met with "You signed off on it it's your responsibility." I understand that I signed off on the parts list but it is very confusing especially for someone ordering for the first time. I'm not a designer nor the sales person whose job it is to make sure we have a kitchen that makes sense. Zen/Cabinets express does not allow any exchanges of any type even on pieces that are unopened or don't require assembly. (Fillers, mouldings). So we were on the hook for the replacement. I'm a contractor and the fact that they were not willing to come to a compromise of any type over 100$ when we paid 8000$ for a kitchen and would have used them repeatedly. Don't bother calling the sales manager Ron as he won't return your calls. Avoid Michelle, she refused to acknowledge her part in the mistake and would rather wipe her hands clean of responsibility than have a satisfied customer. The product for the price is good, that is my positive from the experience. It isn't worth dealing with this company though that clearly couldn't care less if they have your business or not. Less

We used Zen to provide cabinets for our fireplace, basement renovation, and kitchen. It was a large and expensive job. Although the initial portion of the relationship started off well enough, once I paid for everything, things went down hill very quickly. Between unreasonable delays, improper measurements, poor customer service, poor organization, and improper installation, my project was an absolute nightmare. I wasted hours speaking with various people at Zen trying to complete the project. To be fair, there were a few people at Zen that I thought tired to do a good job. That said, if I had a time machine, I would certainly go back and go with any other service provider to save myself all of the additional costs, time, and stress. Zen's reply below is disappointing and confirms the caution that I have provided above. The electrical in my home was 100% complete when Zen came in to do the measurements for the basement. In fact, aside from the cabinets that Zen was hired to manufacture and install, everything else in the basement was completed prior to them taking the measurements. Despite this, the manufactured product was not aligned with Zen's measurements, or the measurements were incorrect. I confirmed this with the the various installers that attend the property. This mistake resulted in significant delays and a poor overall product. Zen is correct in so far as my general contractor hired a subcontractor that made some mistakes that caused delays for the kitchen and fireplace cabinets. Zen insisted that this subcontractor was awful, and that they would have avoided those mistakes. They also stated that they could rectify those mistakes. Accordingly, I hired Zen to rectify a few things for the kitchen and fireplace, and to supply and install the basement. Zen's contractors made several mistakes, resulting in weeks of delays. For example, one them installed the risers for the kitchen the wrong way (one side was tall enough to go to the edge of the backsplash, while the other side was about an inch shorter than the backsplash). The contractor installed the shorter side and left without pointing out the obvious mistake. Then it took weeks and several emails and calls to have Zen come back. When they came back to fix this, the new risers they brought did not have paint on portion of the riser (even though I had specifically stated to several of Zen's employees that every side needed to be painted, or it would look horrible from the stairs). Zen, on several occasions, also promised that things would be completed on a certain date. Despite telling them that it seemed too big of a job for the time allotted, they insisted that it could be done. Of course, it wasn't, and I had to wait weeks for the next appointment. On the last day, I actually had to step away from work to help the contactor make cuts and install portions of the cabinets for the basement. Put simply, the installation was too big for one person to handle, and the contractor was running out of time and I didn't want to have another delay. Even with my help, the contractor wasn't able to finish everything (he tried his best), leaving me with a few things to do myself. We did a 3 story renovation during COVID, and dealt with delays. For example, our staircase was delayed by 3 weeks, and our appliances were delayed by nearly 4 months. That said, the other contractors and suppliers communicated these delays, which I accepted was out of their control. On a couple occasions, some contractors made mistakes, resulting in delays. In those situations, those contractors moved very quickly to fix their mistakes and even offered discounts for the inconvenience. For those contractors, I was not disappointed (even if I was flustered in the moment), because they accepted responsibly and took steps to rectify the experience. Frankly speaking, delays and mistakes happen, but taking responsibility and making the customer whole is the hallmark of a reliable company. Zen does not appear to take responsibility, and I certainly don't feel like I have been made whole. Less

Everything started off great, they were very happy to work with me on planning the kitchen at their showroom. I placed my order on August 12th, and the job was not full completed until November 10, as multiple pannels arrived damaged and I had to request they be replaced/fixed. At one point I had to contact them 5 times before anyone returned my calls or emails. Once they have your money it seems the motivation goes down for quick and efficient service. The finished product looks good and I'm glad I got to pick the colour that I wanted, but I'm nervous about how easily they could show wear and tear because of how much was damaged in the install. Time will tell. Also, if you're being cautious about Covid as the numbers go up, note that I needed to ask one installer to wear a mask when he came into my home (I was already wearing one and he didn't catch on), and he was not pleased about it. My list of frustrations is massive, but here’s a few that top the list: - I was given a quote to make some modifications to the design after the kitchen had been installed (I wanted the island to be extended with some added cupboards). I paid the full amount of the quote, then was given an ADDITIONAL quote a week later and was told I had to pay the additional quote on top of the quote I already agreed upon. If I would have known there were going to be hidden costs, I wouldn’t have proceeded with the modifications. To make matters worse I couldn’t get a refund for the first quote (roughly $5000) so I had to either lose my $5000 completely, or pay more money to move forward with my kitchen. - The wrong vanity went into one of the bathrooms which they tried to pin on me saying that “I had requested a vanity this size” (you couldn’t even sit on the toilet the vanity was so large). When they finally agreed to fix it, the installation crew brought to site the wrong vanity AGAIN! Overall delaying completion by months. - Gables around the fridge weren’t the correct size even though Zen was sent our appliance dimensions. The builder ended up having to pay for this to be changed because Zen said that we requested the gables to be this size. - Poor design team. I admit that I put too much trust into the design team. I had never designed a kitchen before but I assumed Zen would be good at maximizing cupboard space and utilization of the smaller kitchens but I was wrong, some of their ideas and designs were ridiculous. - Workers won’t show up for scheduled appointments. This is very frustrating when you drive an hour each way to meet them. - Workers won’t actually do what you ask them to do. I had a list of insufficiencies I wanted addressed after the installation took place. They said the list had been completed when in fact they only did a few things. They had to come back 5 times to fix everything when it could have been fixed in one go. - I asked to speak with the owner to try and help fix all the issues. I was assured he would contact me (because they don't give out his information) but that was obviously another lie by Zen. Avoid this company like the plague! I wish I could give them a 0/5 star rating. Less

Zen also dealt very well with the problems caused by the general contractor and delays on site. We are now working with Zen to install some additional small cabinets to create a columbarium. Less

We just finished building our 3000 sf new house in inner city. We visited 3 different shops for cabinetry/counter top and we selected Zen Living at the end. Our experience with Zen Living is all positive and I highly recommend it for the following reasons: Selection - they have the best selections. Just in the show room there are over 100 samples. Was told I can see more if I wanted.They have a very clean pleasant show room. I was also invited to their factory to take peek at the operations. Very organized. Price - unbeatable. I got quotes from other shops and they were much higher. However, in order to receive discounted prices from Zen Living you must allow at least 10 weeks or more for your order. Experience - the sale manager has lots of experience in their products and even the design. He knows what products are the best for different styles of build. We showed him the floor plan and explain our "taste" and he quickly narrowed down to 4 samples. With the help of other staff (including the owner I think), we further narrowed down to 2 and it was just between colors.Their staff have lots of patience and never pushy. Follow up service - Amazing! They came back 5-6 times just to finish the final touch ups such as adjusting to hinges, color repair and adding a trim on the side plus other little stuff that my builder noticed. All at no extra costs. There was one panel with minor damaged but they replaced the whole panel instead of repair it. I thought once you paid the suppliers you will never see them again but not for Zen Living. They do honor their deal. I am impressed. Less
