Kirsten Vet Physio

My collie, Jet, suddenly became lame early on this year for no obvious reason. He had X-Rays done at the vet’s but they came back clear and was advised to rest and do short lead walks only (which was extremely hard with a very active collie). Unfortunately, weeks went by and his lameness didn’t improve and I was struggling to know where to go next. Thankfully, Kirsten was recommended by my dog behaviouralist. At first I was worried that Jet wouldn’t engage as he is a very nervous and sensitive boy and needed sedation when being examined by the vet. On our first visit, Kirsten clearly had a good understanding on how to approach anxious dogs. She remained calm, sensitive and worked at Jets pace and because of this she was able to do her physical assessment with him, he didn’t even flinch when she used the therapy machine on him (my partner and I, and the vets, just couldn’t believe how well he engaged). Kirsten gave us a clear treatment plan to work on at home in-between appointments and always checked in with us to see how Jet was getting on. We have attended around 6 sessions over the last 5 months and during one of these sessions, whilst Kirsten was doing her examination, she identified significant stiffness when moving Jets neck and with this we followed another exercise program to improve his flexibility (before this we were almost ready to book a whole body scan as the lameness was still a mystery). However, since working on these targeted exercises we started to notice improvement with Jets lameness and over time, whilst continuing to follow Kirsten’s treatment program and advice on how to gradually introduce exercise again, we’re now at a point of almost being back to normal daily exercise again and it’s so lovely to see Jet running freely and smoothly. I literally can’t thank Kirsten enough for her professionalism, advice, patience and calmness.
