My sweet girl Maisie greatly benefited from her training at Piper's Place! I knew my girl was smart, but I didn't have the right tools to teach her. Thankfully Helen was amazing and helped Maisie learn better leash walking skills, manners, and listen better! She even does well staying in the crate when others were around now (before she would just cry and bark if she knew people were home). I'm so thankful for Helen and all she did for my girl. Her silly personality still shines through but her listening and behavior is much better and makes us both more comfortable in public and at home.

Talk about a miracle worker. Helen came into our lives a year ago to help with our boy and I truly cannot imagine a life without her in it.
We rescued our pup Finnegan from Wags & Walks at about ~2 years old. While he was already pretty obedient, we quickly learned that he *hated* the crate, was a bit of an escape artist, and could not be left alone.
Our boy spent a ~month with her doing the board and train program, with a laser-focus on his separation and confinement anxiety. We could not leave the house without giving him trazodone, and as a mutt with just about every working/high-energy mix in him, we were struggling with his energy regulation. Basically our lives revolved around making sure he was enriched and properly worn out, and mitigating his anxiety so we could leave the house.
And then Helen came in! Our boy has been off trazodone for 11 months— hasn’t needed it once since leaving Piper’s Place. He can stay calm in his crate, being left alone for HOURS. It is night and day! He will even go lay in his crate by choice now. We no longer have to go do sprints with him during the day, as he discovered his “off” switch and knows how to use it. Not to mention, he mastered off-leash work with Helen so when we go to run and play, he can enjoy that freedom and we are confident in his recall and off-leash manners.
Helen is the best. We love her, her pups, her boarding program, her group classes— It has given us the best little community! She’s approachable, insightful, and deals with alllll of my questions ;) We are forever grateful for her help in giving our Finnegan the confidence to be his best self!!!!

Highly recommend Helen! We had our puppy stay with her for 3 weeks for the beginner training camp. We planned during our 2 week vacation so it was perfect. Our puppy came home like a new dog. Able to calm down so much faster, not pull on the leash on walks. He has manners at his kennel and at the door. He has some recall where he had none before. He can go out in public stores and is getting better each day. Our dog listens now and knows what “no” means. Worth every penny

Helen and Piper's Place have changed our lives for the better. We rescued our little (big) guy Smoke around 4 weeks old from Wags and Walks and I started working with him immediately. I would consider myself an intermediate "pet" owner but by 6 months old, Smoke was running circles around my husband and I. He was incredibly sweet but UNRULY in the house (constant micromanagement), loud and reactive in public (announcing he had arrived, demand barking for pets, WIGGLES all over the place, pulling, choking, should I go on?). Worst of all, he suddenly became car reactive and at 55+lbs, that was NOT going to work and was a real threat to his (and our) safety. Our life had become "The Smoke Show" and we were lost and honestly, defeated. I was embarrassed to take him in public and felt like I had failed him.
Even though he was a complete disaster before training, we had come to love him dearly so finding a trainer that held my morals and values was really important to me. It was important to me that Smoke wasn't "scared" into being good but that he actually WANTED to be a better boy for us and was taught how to control his anxiety and his feelings in a healthy way. I looked into a lot of options and really just felt called to move forward with Helen and Piper's Place after our first phone call. Helen was confident in her approach, helped me to feel confident in my abilities as a dog owner and gave me the peace of mind that everything was going to be ok. I felt safe and knew Smoke would be safe too.
Post- 4 week training, Smoke (even at his young age) has transformed into a confident boy. He is able to control his big feelings, remain calm in the house, responsive to correction, is able to walk by a person or dog and not bark or lunge, ignores stimuli and is all around a JOY to our family.
I've been trying to correctly articulate what Helen has done for our family and I think the best way to summarize it is that she saved Smoke's life. He is no longer car reactive, we can go on walks without fear that he will break off his leash and get run over, we can play in the park without him trying to lunge after every car that goes by. I can let him be a dog with a really good life and for that, we will be forever grateful to Helen and Piper's Place.

I couldn’t say enough good things about Helen and Piper’s Place!
Nezzy is a 1-year-old Mountain Cur, Yorki, Maltese, Shih Tzu, with a big silly personality to fit it! She struggled with impulse control, excitability, and confidence. Helen was so sweet with her and approached training in a way that would fit Nezzy’s needs, age, and personality. The facility is such an ideal space, and I knew Nezzy would be safe and well cared for! The training program is detailed, well thought out, and easy to understand! It was so helpful to have a lesson mid-way through, and Helen is so generous with her time, energy, and resources! Nezzy absolutely loved her time during her 3 week on leash board and train, and I am AMAZED at how much she learned in that time (and me, too!!). I will absolutely be raving about our experience to anyone who has a dog! Best place around for quality training, support, and care!

We could not be more thrilled with our experience with Helen at Piper’s Place! Our 8-month old labradoodle puppy, Griffey, really struggled with over- excitability, impulse control, and he just couldn’t chill. At 60lbs, he was uncontrollable in public, which was really frustrating and embarrassing for us. He pulled like crazy on walks, and we had to micromanage him in the house or he would steal things, countersurf, and generally just wander around looking for something to get into. He also just started blowing us off when we tried to recall him or ask for obedience.
During his 4-week off leash board and train, Helen was able to teach him how to relax, stay, walk in heel, recall, and just have better overall manners. She also taught him how to regulate his emotions so he doesn’t go so crazy at the sight of another human or animal. The thought of being able to enjoy our pup off leash was not even an option before this program. If you are questioning whether the investment in one of Helen’s training programs is worth it, we can tell you it is worth every. single. penny. We are now able to enjoy our pup in ways we never would have been able to before. Helen absolutely set our family up for success with all of the skills she taught Griffey (and us), and we couldn’t be more grateful!

Our dog Daisy spent a month training on and off leash at Piper’s Place and boy what a difference!! Daisy is a one year old Border Collie with a TON of energy! Before training with Helen, she would dart out the door, or through the gate, and straight into the street to chase any car that passed by. She chewed up anything and everything that was near by, including her bed. She never stayed in place unless she was in her kennel and she pulled like a sled dog on her walks. That being said, Helen worked wonders with her! She no longer has any of those behaviors and heels right by our side on walks. We are able to enjoy her in ways we couldn’t before she went to training. If you are debating whether or not to send your dog to train at Piper’s Place, do it, you won’t regret it. It is worth every penny and Helen is wonderful with dogs. Daisy loves her and gives her two paws up as well.
