**Doughboy Swift Review – A Tale of Two Pizzas** I recently swung by Doughboy Swift, Sarasota’s hottest new pizza joint rocking a nostalgic 90s vibe, and my experience was pure fire. Before I dive in, I found a scathing review from about four weeks ago on a local foodie forum that nearly put me off. The reviewer ripped into Doughboy Swift, calling their pizza “a soggy mess with barely any cheese and a crust like cardboard.” They dissed the sauce as “tasteless” and claimed the toppings were “slopped on like an afterthought,” slapping it with a brutal 2/10. Yikes. Fast forward to today, and I’m giving Doughboy Swift a blazing 10/10. Whatever went down a month ago, they’ve clearly turned up the heat. The retro 90s decor and lively atmosphere pulled me in from the start, and the staff were all smiles. I ordered their Backdraft pizza, loaded with hot honey, cup-and-char pepperoni, soppressata salami, jalapeños, Calabria chilies, and another drizzle of hot honey for good measure. This pie was an absolute masterpiece. The crust struck the perfect balance of crisp and chewy, with a golden crunch. The sauce brought a tangy, zesty backbone, and the mozzarella was melted to gooey perfection. The toppings? Pure dynamite. The cup-and-char pepperoni curled up with crispy edges, the soppressata added a savory punch, and the jalapeños and Calabria chilies brought a spicy kick that was perfectly tamed by the sweet, fiery hot honey. Every bite was a bold, harmonious explosion of flavor. Delivery was insanely fast, and the pizza arrived piping hot, making me question if that earlier review was just a fluke. I also tried their garlic butter-glazed wings, which were juicy, flavorful, and the ideal sidekick to the Backdraft’s heat. The quality screamed passion, backing up Doughboy Swift’s claim of being lifelong foodies obsessed with killer pizza. If they were serving “soggy” pies four weeks ago, they’ve clearly worked some kitchen wizardry since. The Backdraft was flawless, and I’m already hyped to try more of their specialty pies. Sarasota, don’t let one bad review scare you—Doughboy Swift is serving up some of the boldest, freshest pizza in town. Highly recommend!
