Seeing one of my boys on stage as well as his bandmates and band parents dancing, laughing, and being silly was so worth it.Judge Mentalist knows how to put on a good show, and as a parent, I couldn't be more impressed by how supportive he and Elkton Magic are toward the schools in Cecil County, knowing there is little funding for programs like marching band.I look forward to seeing Judge Mentalist perform again. The first time I saw Judge Mentalist perform his hypnotic feat, I got out my camera and made a video. On his stage were nearly a dozen people, men and women, some were professionals, some were prominent business owners, and all of them I knew personally. When I saw them fishing, then scrambling to pick up “money”, and then doing their best Vegas show girl dance routines, all under hypnosis, I was laughing hysterically. I made the video so that I could show the participants how well they performed their assigned tasks under hypnosis. They were stunned. We enjoyed talking about that Judge Mentalist show for weeks.A few months later, Judge Mentalist had another show, and I made sure to go. This time, I was one of the people selected to complete tasks under hypnosis. I was skeptical because I am a highly practiced overthinker. Could my brain turn itself down enough to be hypnotized? Would I be the only one not able to complete my tasks? Judge Mentalist told the audience that the louder they clapped the more we would be able to work through our tasks. Not yet under hypnosis, I thought there was no way my exaggerated startle response would survive boisterous clapping. But, let the hypnosis begin! Not only was I unaware of the clapping, laughing and cheering, I landed my tuna on my boat, I danced like a show girl, and I picked up “thousands of dollars” and stuffed them everywhere I could. The “thousands of dollars” were actually paper napkins that, under hypnosis, we all believed were hundred-dollar bills. Funny thing is that I kept picking up paper napkins in restaurants and putting them neatly into my wallet for weeks afterwards.The show is fun, and funny. It is lively and engaging. You do not need to participate nor know anyone to thoroughly enjoy the antics of the hypnotized people and the quick wit of Judge Mentalist. Less
