I had no idea how to raise a puppy. I thought training was all about teaching to sit, lie down, heal etc. I didn’t realise quite how important socialisation and confidence work was for a puppy, but it makes total sense. I am confident that with Jemma’s help, I can raise a confident, happy and well behaved family dog. Jemma explains everything in such a clear and non judgmental way. She offers online training as well as in Shrewsbury which is fab - she is my go-to recommendation for all my friends, colleagues and family.

Jemma has been absolutely wonderful in supporting our youngest daughter to overcome her severe anxiety around dogs. After a traumatic incident as a toddler, our daughter was fearful of going to any green spaces or parks in Shrewsbury where she might encounter dogs or puppies. It became a crippling anxiety that impacted her confidence and her enjoyment of being outdoors. Jemma was incredible when working with her, over time and in one to one sessions she was able to build our daughter’s confidence allowing her to meet different dogs and puppies in a safe and controlled way. Jemma never rushed her, she worked at whatever pace our little girl needed and was always adaptable, never judgemental if we occasionally took two steps forward and one step back. I am incredibly grateful to Jemma and her nurturing approach to both our daughter and the dogs she works with, Your Compassionate Dog Trainer couldn’t be a more appropriate name. The sessions have clearly worked, our daughter is now asking for a puppy!

This is Roy- a lively bundle of fun! But we needed help with his over-enthusiasm when people arrived at the house. He would jump and scratch with excitement which was difficult enough with adults but even more concerning with little children. But with Jemma’s help and with a lot of hard work and consistency we learned to manage his excitement by distraction and firmness and praise - oh and the use of treats when he had done well! He was a fast learner and it was great to see him behave more calmly when people arrived. Thanks Jemma for all your patient help .
