We began having an issue with our furnace. It would turn on, run for a short time, then cut off. My fiancée wanted to make sure it was fixed right the first time, so she googled the highest rated HVAC companies In Birmingham and contacted the top company on that list. While professional and persistent, they couldn’t tell us with certainty what the issue was. After multiple trips to our home, They told us that the gas valve was probably bad and that the most cost effective route would be to contact a plumbing company that also dealt with natural gas. That’s when we contacted Practical Plumbing. Nick asked that I send over a few photos of what we were dealing with and he noticed the issue almost immediately, “Looks like your gas line feeding your furnace is undersized. When the furnace is starved for gas it will shut itself off to prevent any damage.” Nick was able diagnose through a photo what the top HVAC guys couldn’t do in person. Nick came out, confirmed that the line was indeed undersized, and gave us a more than fair quote to make the repair. He knocked the job out in under an hour and our furnace hasn’t had an issue since. My fiancée and I were shocked at what a difference he made. The house would heat up almost instantly. I wrote this long review, not to make anyone look bad, but to say that going with the most expensive guy doesn’t always mean you’re choosing the most knowledgeable. However, if you want someone who is truly skilled in their trade, will charge you a fair and reasonable price, and stand behind their work, do yourself a favor and call Practical Plumbing and ask for Nick.
