I'll start by saying I wish I found him sooner. I called Shawn two months into a completely nightmare-ish repair. He did not have to take us on as clients, but he did because he knew we weren't receiving quality help elsewhere. Shawn met me the very next day. He had a mitigation team out two days later. When he said he was going to get things done, he wasn't kidding. Shawn's mitigation team found that the first company didn't properly dry and remove the damaged areas. They were thorough and helped explain everything to me regarding the damage and the future plans. Unlike other contractors we have worked with, Shawn answered our calls and texts quickly, he called us if we had questions, and he made sure everything was done and done right. We had a really tight timeline and he made it happen for us. We are so grateful we found Shawn and will make sure he is always our first call in the future!

We just finished our Condo Renovation in Pacific Beach. The place was built in the 80's and hadn't been touched so we needed a full redo. Shawn and his team were amazing. He broke down the schedule, walked us through the material selection process (cabinets, countertops, flooring, etc). Although we have done some renovation work in the past, his expertise made all the difference in so many little decisions. The project wasnt without its hiccups, mysterious pipes, crazy electrical surprises ets. But Shawn was quick to identify a solution and was really fair working with us on additional costs. He ultimately finished the project on time and on budget. We just celebrated Thanksgiving in our beautiful new home!! Thanks Shawn!!

Our rental house in San Diego had a flooding issue in the kitchen that required a complete renovation. Shawn Heller went to our house, surveyed the damage and put together a repair estimate for our insurance company. After Shawn did a video walk-through for USAA, our claims adjuster approved the repair estimate without any changes, and then Shawn got to work. Keep in mind that I live in Norfolk, VA. Due to Covid-19, I was not comfortable flying out to San Diego to check on the project. Luckily, I found a great contractor that I felt I could trust to take care of everything for me. Shawn's recommendations regarding cabinets, counters, floors, and paint were spot on. Whenever he saw something extra that needed to be repaired, he went ahead and fixed it without charging me more. He stayed on schedule and budget, promptly answered my calls and texts, and kept me in the loop regarding job progress. His crew did a great job and got it done quickly so I could get my rental house back on the market. I chose Heller Construction because of the Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. An unexpected flood brought me in touch with Heller Construction. My bathtub flooded my downstairs neighbors. When Sean came out to see the damage, both my neighbors and I were immediately comfortable and knew we were in good hands. Shawn was contracted by my upstairs neighbor to repair water damage to my ceiling. They did a great job on the ceiling, they were here at the scheduled times and we're prompt with text or phone calls if there would be any changes to the schedule. I had purchased a bathroom vanity which I was attempting to install myself, but I was having trouble with connecting the plumbing... I asked Shawn if He could complete the install for me... He said he could and he would return the following week which he did and the vanity was installed perfectly within a few hours. I was impressed with the professionalism and courtesy of Shawn and his crew, they were very respectful of myself and my home, they were open and forthcoming with suggestions and referrals of other contractors such as a door installation specialist, which I also had need of...Shawn and Heller Construction will be the first call I make for any Home maintenance or repair!

Our AC condensate line backed up unbeknownst to us last month. Spent a few weeks haggling with insurance to cover it and unfortunately the claim was denied twice. Queue finding a contractor to do the work. Heller wasn't the cheapest but frankly, I'd rather pay to have a job done right the first time. My husband found Shawn's company and they were fabulous. We had a slight issue with how our flooring had been laid originally and thought we might have to go buy another box to compensate, and Shawn and Manny were able to cut some of the remaining pieces to fit. Crisis averted! They redid some baseboards and re-ran our AC condensate line for us as well. Pleasant, efficient and everything looks great. So much so that we are having Shawn write an estimate for redoing our kitchen. Thank you again!!! See you soon!

Where do I begin? First off, a little background... In early Nov. 2019, a common pipe leak in my condominium complex created a disaster for my family. The water damage destroyed my kitchen/dining room area. The damage it caused devastated us as my property insurance informed me that the entirety of my kitchen had to be replaced! This included removing my cabinets, appliances, granite counter tops, removing drywall/insulation, dehumidifying, and replacing everything. This included the cabinetry and counter tops as the originals were damaged during removal. The condition of my condo (water damage remediation/no functional kitchen) made it unsuitable to reside in. Obviously, this was very disconcerting being so close to the holidays. My number one priority was to get my family back in our condo as soon as possible. My property insurance gave me my estimate and I went to work. I went through multiple companies but didn't like the answers they gave me (prices, time-frame of completion). Fortunately, I was able to find Shawn through Yelp. Immediately when I met him, I was relieved. He said he could get it done in a week!!! He was very forthcoming and had a no nonsense attitude when it came to discussing what needed to be done in a realistic manner which I truly appreciated. After showing him my insurance estimate, he said he can definitely work with that whereas other companies basically scoffed at the low estimate. Some quotes were sometimes triple the price of the estimate. Note, some general contractors told me upfront that they don't deal with insurance companies. I wasn't sure why at the time but I immediately found out in the coming weeks. The next month was a pain as communicating with my property insurance agent was a time-consuming endeavor. It was already December and no action was done save the immediate repair of the leak and drying. There was a lot of back and forth with me and my agent on the estimate and the Thanksgiving holiday created additional delays. What Shawn did next is what really made me know I made the right decision. Shawn actually talked with my insurance agent to negotiate! Shawn told me he's dealt with property insurance before and it shows. He fought for me and even got the estimate approved for almost 35% more of the original estimate! So basically he got me more money for rebuilding my kitchen! That alone deserves the 5 stars... All the negotiation was great but would mean nothing if the work wasn't up to par. When he said he could finish in a week, Shawn meant it. From when his construction team started, it was complete one week later! I was ecstatic as I was able to move back in before Christmas! The work itself was amazing. The new cabinets and counter tops were beautiful as you can see in the photo. I'm still amazed how timely everything was finished. All in all, I am very happy and fortunate to have dealt with Shawn for my construction needs. There will be no hesitation on who I will call for future needs. If you look at my profile, I do not write Yelp reviews hardly at all (this might be the second?). Honestly, I can even write many more paragraphs on what Shawn and his team did that I didn't have a chance to mention. This review was important for me to post as Shawn and his Heller Construction team are fantastic to work with and I wanted to make sure people know that. Couldn't be happier!

It's not to often you can say you're happy about the time pipes flooded your house, but after seeing the end results from Shawn and his team, I'm really happy it did. He did an amazing job rehabbing the kitchen, floors, and fire place. Shawn worked hard to see that we were happy through out the process and the end results were amazing. Super grateful for all their hard work and how well projects were managed.

Home renovations are expensive and stressful. Anyone who says otherwise is trying to sell you something. That said, Shawn thoughtfully walked through our house and discussed the gamut of options within our budget. The work was expensive, but I walked away feeling like Shawn saved us some money. I don't think I had a single call go to Shawn's voicemail. He answered his phone, morning, noon, evening, and addressed my questions or concerns. Better still, Shawn made a schedule and stuck to it. There were no surprises. No surprise delays, no surprise fees (even when Shawn and his crew had to buy a lot more paint than they bargained for). Renovations are stressful, but Shawn made things less stressful. Heller Contracting and Maintenance will get my repeat business because it is a trustworthy organization with outstanding customer service. I like being able to pick up the phone and get an answer. I like getting honest feedback instead of wishy-washy smoke blowing. Shawn is a straight-shooter and his company's work was outstanding. Thanks for making things as easy as possible, Shawn. John

Heller Contracting did an amazing job flipping our place in PB. It was in bad shape (probably hadn't had any work done in over 30 years) and needed some major changes done. We were on a tight time frame of three weeks. We were completely shocked and blown away by how beautiful the place turned out. It was beyond our expectations. We are really happy with it and never want to leave!

We had water damage on the 2nd floor from a washer leak disaster. Shawn, the owner, came in during the rebuild and really helped ease the stress of this very stressful situation. He communicated so well with us throughout the process and kept us updated on everything. He was present and overlooking his crew and his subcontractors to make sure everyone was staying on task. After a water heater disaster we worked with Shawn and HCM for repair work including new floors, paint & sink install. Throughout the project Shawn communicated extremely well, was flexible with our needs and great with our dogs. The work crews showed up on time as scheduled. Shawn was available throughout the project to answer questions patiently. He guided us on color and material choices, but was perfectly open to our own vision as well. As inevitable small issues and fixes arose Shawn was very responsive and attended to them thoroughly. It is obvious that Shawn takes pride in his work and expects the same of his crew. Shawn helped us work with the insurance process which went smoothly. I will say that we contracted HCM as an extension of working with Quick Water Heater and West Coast Restoration (for the water remediation). They handed off work to each other very smoothly and formed a good team for the project. I highly recommend Shawn Heller for home remodel or repair.

I have worked with Shawn on many projects totally over 900k in improvements. I have to say in a world of contractors and "home improvement" specialist Shawn came through in a big way. I am a full time real estate broker and very busy with my day to day business. I cannot explain how nice it is to have the ability to focus on my main task and not have to micromanage the project at hand. I have had nothing but good experiences, although, nothing is absolutely perfect, anything I had questions about or wanted to correct was rectified right away. Our water heater leaked and overflowed into the furnace area and into a bedroom. From start to finish, Shawn professionally handled the project and provided excellent service. HCM first opened up and dried the area in a closed, sealed environment and did not cut any corners. HCM made sure that moisture testing was completed before proceeding to the next step. Once all dry, HCM initiated repairs and did so in an efficient and clean manner. It goes a long way when someone that is in your home working cleans up after themselves each day and ensures all of your personal belongings are stored out of the way. HCM completed all aspects of the repairs from start to finish, and the result was leaving our home in a condition better than before the flood occurred. Shawn is an excellent communicator and was sure to walk through each step, call ahead of scheduled appointments to let me know he was on his way, and generally took care of insurance paperwork and correspondence. I would highly recommend Shawn and HCM, they truly provided excellent service and workmanship!

Our home had water damage due to water heater overflow - what a major headache. It damaged the walls, carpet, and ceilings as the heater was located in the upper floor. Shawn and Steven came to the rescue within the same day of my call for emergency service. The dry out work was great - they put up "walls" of sheets to block off the area where the drying was needed, as well as making sure to cover our carpet and hardwood floors to protect non-damaged areas before the work began. The dry out work was done smoothly and timely. The restoration was where their detailed oriented work was revealed. Not only did they restore the carpet, walls, and ceiling perfectly but with the extra paint left, they also took the time to paint several dings in none damaged areas as a courtesy. Through out the whole process (about 2 weeks), they took care to minimize our inconvenience as much as possible and kept us informed every step of the way. The entire crew was courteous and all work was done as scheduled. Plus, if they said they would start work 8am, they would actually show up on time each day - definitely not something you can take for granted when working with contractors and which we appreciated. Picture it, San Diego, 2017, you just gave your keys back to the last landlord you'll (hopefully) ever rent from. You're super excited about purchasing your new home! Literally, LITERALLY! a few hours later, at 3 am you are awakened to a knock at our door and a nice LARGE puddle of water stating that there has been a flood in your building!!! Water is under your floor and in your walls! WTF mang! I just bought this place! What the heck am I going to do!?!? Well Shawn Heller and his team came to the rescue! I read through Heller Contracting and Maintenance's prior yelp reviews and was highly impressed. Therefore, I used the yelp contact service (which was great) and Shawn came over to my WRECKED place the SAME DAY! Like my floor and drywall and stuff were RIPPED UP people. Anyway, Shawn and his crew went above and beyond my expectations throughout the entire process of completing all of the necessary repairs to my new home--including working beautifully and professionally with my insurance agency! Shawn even went to THREE different Lowe's stores (not necessarily close together) in San Diego County to get the flooring I wanted in order to complete the project ON TIME! Shawn and his crew were also very proficient with communicating timely updates and overall management of the project. Can you tell I like the timely updating stuff? The bottom line is I felt extremely comfortable calling or texting Shawn and viewed him as a trusted individual who, "kept it real," genuinely wanted to help me, and WORK FOR ME throughout this stressful process. I hope you don't experience the inconvenience that I went through due to flood damage, however, if you need home repair or remodeling, please use Heller Contracting and Maintenance!

I highly recommend Shawn and his crew for any construction/repair job you may have. They recently repaired damages suffered as a result of flooding in my condo. They were professional, well-organized, thorough courteous, tidy, and on schedule In addition, the cost was reasonable and Shawn actually went above and beyond what was cited in the proposal.
