To start, I would like to thank the service technician for being polite and courteous throughout discussing my issue. On arrival, the posted price for a full synthetic oil change was $64.95 + additional charge for more than 5 quarts of oil and an upcharge for certain oil filters. I presented a coupon I had downloaded that morning from their website for $50 instead of $64.95. The technician said they couldn't honor that coupon anymore even though the coupon stated good through 10/30/2026. If this was the case (such as due to unexpected rising costs) the coupon should have been taken down from the website. He then said he could give me a better deal than the coupon because on Fridays senior citizens got 50% off and the total price would be $92(including 2 extra quarts, upgraded filter, disposal fee and tax) . When I expressed concern he reminded me that this was 50% off. The price listed at Costa was $64.95. If I was receiving 50% off, how much were they charging for the two extra quarts of oil and the filter upcharge? I told them I purchased a full synthetic oil change at Walmart on July 22, 2026 for a total of $66.30 (see photo of the receipt) . $66.30 included 2 extra quarts at $3.86 per quart, oil disposal fee, sales tax and no upcharge for a special oil filter. Costa does a quality job, the technicians are excellent, and I understand you pay more for their convenience. I would have understood and been fine if they had just told me the best price they could offer was $92. But telling me that $92 represented 50% off to try to make it feel like a great deal? Nobody wins when businesses play pricing games.
