If I could give a lower rating I would. Last year my tax person Robert Anderson's practice was sold to IRB Tax. I was used to speaking with Robert a couple of times throughout the filing process understand what tax breaks I may qualify for and if there were any new tax laws that would affect me. Unfortunately, my experience with IRB was nothing like that and frankly, terrible. The first engagement with IRB Tax was filing for my 2022 tax return. The only communication between their tax person, John Duenas, and I occurred after I made many attempts via email and phone calls with no response, which left me with my only option of threatening that I would not use them. I had reached out to John’s manager Alexndra Rodriguez (owner) several times with no response. After my threat of leaving, John reached out and sent my tax return with very little explanation in the email. I asked to speak with Alexandra Rodriguez, but there was no response. I ended up proceeding with the filing because so much time had passed that I could not afford the time it would take to file with someone else without an extension.Fast forward to this year's tax return (2023). I sent an email to Alexandra and uploaded my documents to their portal on 2/29/2024. Alexandra responded the same day and referred me to a new tax preparer since John was out indefinitely. Gem Redondo (Alexandra's sister) I was told had 20+ years’ experience and she called me right away to introduce herself. She said she would prepare my taxes over the next week and would reach back out to me if she had any questions. Great start, but they fumbled the ball again. Today is March 20, 2024, almost a month after with no response. I sent several emails and called several times, and no one has responded back to me. I explained to Alexandra and Gem that it is important to stay in touch with customers even if they have not gotten around to doing their taxes just to let them know they were not forgotten when deadlines are missed. They continue to have serious communication issues. I even sent them a message letting them know I was going to write this review if they did not respond, and they didn't, so here I am.I highly suggest not using this IRB Tax if you care about communication or maximizing your return.P.S. I am having a CPA look at my previous year's return to see what was missed and I will be filing with someone else. Just wasted a month and now I am under a tighter timeline. These guys are unprofessional and just brain damage to work with.
