Today was my very first visit and it was such a positive experience!! There was only one person working and a couple people in line but he did such an amazing job and kept a positive attitude through being busy right at open. Dear Sir or Ma’am, I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service received and with the local franchise’s response to the resultant damage. On June 18, 2021, I received an oil change at Costa Oil – Golden Mile in Pittsburgh, PA, for my 2012 Mazda6. The car was in excellent condition and had only 42,000 miles on it. After getting the oil changed, my family went on vacation from June 19th to July 5th and did not drive the vehicle. At 8:30 AM on July 8, 2021, after driving approximately 100 miles over the previous 2 days, the oil filter fell off the car. We heard a clunk but didn’t see anything on the road. After driving approximately 2 miles, I noticed a faint knocking sound. I immediately drove to the Mazda dealer – a total of 5 miles from where the filter fell off. The service technician discovered that the oil filter was missing and that engine damage had occurred as a result of the oil being drained after the filter fell off. When we contacted Costa Oil – Golden Mile’s manager, Kevin told us that because we drove the car 100 miles after the oil change, the problem is our fault and that he was not responsible for the damage. We have had 2 service technicians both tell us that oil filters do not routinely just fall off – that it must have been due to poor installation from the recent oil change. Our insurance company verified the damage and declared that the damage was a result of “negative servicing.” With this declaration, our insurance company informed us that auto insurance policies will not cover damaged caused by negative servicing, and informed us that your company, through your insurance, is responsible for the damage. In upholding Costa Oil’s pledge for exceptional quality and your company’s promise to provide trusted, ethical service, I look forward to hearing from you to determine how the replacement engine will be paid for.
