I prefer to hire an independent professional rather than give business to the larger companies like Folkes or T. Weber. Tom helped me flush my toilet and scheduled an appointment to replace it within the next few days. The following morning, I couldn't get my toilet to flush so in a panic I asked Tom if he could come the next day. I believe it was his day off but he was accommodating. I purchased a new toilet at Home Depot and he picked it up the morning of. He set down a drop cloth to ensure the carpet in the hallway leading from the bathroom did not get dirty. My hot water heater broke and I called a few plumbers in my area. They were all outrageously expensive. Finally I spoke with Local Legend Tom the Plumber at Local Plumbing and Electric. The advertisement stated 24 hours a day and I happen to call at 5:30 AM. I could hear in his voice i apparently woke him up but he was friendly, funny, polite and very accommodating. He arrived one hour later! When he arrived, he accessed the problem, went to get a new hot water heater and installed it for barely more than the price of the heater!! When he was finished he took the old hot water heater with him and I noticed the pipes above It were no longer hanging down. They were anchored to the ceiling properly even though that was not part of the job I hired him for! When I questioned him, he stated that he noticed they were not secure and anchored them for me FREE OF CHARGE. He is so humble a man and such a professional that he wasn't even going to mention it to me. I will be using Tom again in the future and highly recommend him to anyone. (Ladies, just for the record, he did not take advantage or overcharge me the way all the other plumbers tried to when they saw I was a single woman!!) Super high prices. I was charged $430 per hr. Parts were only $140, job took 2 hrs to do. I wasn't told until after the job was already started that he doesn't do any sheet rocking and that I have to hire another contractor, a friend of his, to close the wall back up. He did no cleaning up and never caulked around the handles so water doesn't get in the wall. I found some putty and placed it around the handles for now. Horrible experience. This guy is a scammer. Tom did such a great job 3 months ago when he came in and replaced our toilet that when we needed someone right away for our clogged kitchen sink, we immediately called him.
