My family had the pleasure of working directly with Alex when we decided to refinance our home purchase of (3) years. Prior to our neighbors referring us to Alex, we had tried to refinance with (2) other loan officers. The first loan officer, pushed us to sign paperwork right away even before even reviewing much with us. The second loan officer, was easier to work with except that we had a unique challenge with our refinance. We originally purchased a new build home with no downpayment made possible with help of (2) CalHFA grants that would need to be cashed out in the refinancing process. Due to this, the current value of our home had to be high enough that we would meet the 20% equity value to qualify for a refinance. While working with the second loan officer, the appraiser valued our home too low vs. current value of other homes in our neighborhood. Once we hit this road block, the loan officer was unable to assist us any further. Per learning that our neighbor refinanced their home successfully with Alex’s help, we hoped that we could also do the same. In speaking with Alex, I could tell that he was very experienced in his line of work. He initiated an appeal to challenge the appraiser, unfortunately the appraiser would not budge. Alex definitely knows the local housing market and matched us with a new bank that funded other homes in the area. With Alex’s expertise, we were able to achieve a few things in the refinance process: 1.) Avoid having to pay for a second appraisal. 2.) Cashed out and paid off the (2) CalHFA grants. 3.) Refinance to a lower interest rate. 4.) Achieved a lower mortgage payment. During the closing of the loan, Alex was available via video conferencing to review the closing documents as we continue to social distance in the pandemic. He did a through job of explaining all documents and walking us through next steps to finalize escrow.
