Doc was my last stop in 2019 before seeing a specialist for shoulder pain. In her direct way she zeroed in on the shoulder problem, how it came to be and how she could fix it. Fast forward almost 6 years and she's doing the same diagnosing and correcting years of work and mobility issues. As a pregnant mom, I can’t recommend Dr. Carlson enough. I had been seeing her before pregnancy & she helped me tremendously from the start. But throughout pregnancy she made me feel comfortable and even had a table for expecting moms. Pregnancy can be tough on the body & I’ve been struggling with back pain & hip discomfort . After my monthly gentle adjustments, I feel such relief—plus, I loved that she uses techniques that are safe for pregnancy. Growing up i was told chiropractors were quacks who took your money and did nothing to help your actual problem. So I had never even given chiropractic care a thought when it came to all my back problems. I suffered, living in a fog for 2 years on pain medication that never really helped but that's all the dr.s gave me. My husband saw Dr. Bell's add on Facebook and decided to give her a try. After just a few visits he started to feel better and so naturally he told me to give it a try. I was terrified the adjustments would make my back worse. Dr. Bell was very understanding and explained my care plan thoroughly. When I say it was the best decision of my life I mean it whole heartedly. I was living a life of dependency. Dependency on medications, dependency on other people to do almost everything for me. Drive me to Dr. appointments, shop for groceries, cook, clean, normal every day things. But now I can do all these things for myself. Now my family can depend on me to do all the things that I once was unable to do for myself and them. Dr. Bell gave me my life back after so many years of feeling helpless and hopeless. She is more than a chiropractic Dr., she is family. She tells me straight when I need motivation to stay on track. When I first came to Active Family Chiropractic I had recently had a devastating hiking accident where I endured multiple bone and spine fractures. Completing everyday tasks were challenging, painful and exhausting. Doc gave me care, compassion, and support in a way I'd not seen from other members of my care team. She dedicated my care plan to healing and recovering back to an active lifestyle that I wanted and that was healthy and appropriate for my age when other doctors dismissed me saying chronic pain would just have to be my new normal. Now, I am able to live my life the way I want to, play competitive kickball with my partner, take long walks and hikes with my dog, and most importantly wake up each day with out being in crippling pain.

I first met Dr. C in 2010. I was having a problem with my shoulder, which she fixed with a few visits. It took her a little longer to fix the rest of me. During the first few visits she was able to learn a lot about me and my lifestyle. More than I realized I had revealed. My life at the time consisted of work behind a desk, or flying around the country meeting with clients, and wining and dining with them. I was seriously overweight. She got me to commit to becoming more active by simply explaining that I would not be able to continue my hobby, my passion - riding motorcycles, for much longer, the way I was treating my body. She got me to start walking and then running, and over the course of that first summer I lost nearly 50 pounds! I ran my first 5K race six months after first meeting Dr. C. A year later I ran a Half-Marathon, and ten months after that, I ran a Marathon, 26.2 miles, in San Francisco, CA. (How I chose that race is a story for another day.)Dr. C's caring style and dedication to her healing practice not only changed my life, I believe she has actually extended my life with improved quality of life. Although I no longer live in the Phoenix area, her lessons stick with me to this day.
