I met Michiyo and took her classes since 2022, with some breaks in between, and now I am back taking her classes. Her talent and skills are out of this world. She makes you dive deep into the watercolor world and teaches you technique, tips and patience, at your own time. Everytime I am taking her classes my paintings get cleaner, better and I practice being more patient with the process!Thank you always for being such a good teacher and mentor! And an amazing artist!

michiyo is the best watercolor teacher in the city. she works with each person on achieving their vision without imposing her own. she finds shadows and bright points that change the whole quality of the painting. her one on one teaching style helps people develop and improve no matter what their level is.

Michiyo is a very experienced watercolorist who very patiently answered the multitudes of questions I had! I have been painting a while and brought some of my previous work. She helped answer some questions about the problems I have been encountering. She also demoed a sky scene for us. I highly recommend her instruction. She is very devoted to watercolor!

Michiyo is amazing! I cannot say enough good things about her classes. If you go on her website, you can see samples of her work. Okay well, you can think, amazing work does not always equal amazing teacher. However, when I took her first class with the Yelp deal, it solidified my impression of her classes. Not only will she help you with the foundation of watercolor, she will also help you improve your painting beyond what you think you can do. I had only take a few classes of watercolor elsewhere beforehand, but I definitely can see the difference in teaching. Her classes are 6 students max and they fill up quickly (so be sure to register early!). It's good because the less students, the more help you can get, therefore the faster you can improve. While her classes are on the pricey side, it is definitely worth it for the smaller class size. The only con is that she only offers classes every other week - definitely wish I could take more!

I found this place on a whim a few years ago, as I found myself newly single. Lots of time on my hands and looking for a new hobby, a Groupon for a Watercolor Class caught my eye. When I arranged with Michiyo to use the groupon, she was GREAT to work with. I am pretty terrible at drawing, but this class didn't make me feel bad about myself! The lesson itself was really pleasant. It was a nice group, the instructions were really easy for this art-challenged girl to follow, and I left with a really lovely piece of art. Most people were there with friends, a few were stragglers like me. Although classes at full price are a bit steep, I think it's worth it for a studio like this. I look forward to taking another class!
