Border & Square
I’ve gotten many art pieces framed at other places, and I’ve never seen a more detail oriented, artistic framer that offers full service. Here’s how the super easy process went: I set up an appt at Kheng’s shop to talk options for my special art piece. He is trained as a painter, so as soon as he saw my piece (not a painting!), he took everything into account: period it was created, place of origin, colors, materials, subject matter and very quickly he brought options of materials that were relevant for my specific piece. Together we created a beautiful idea and his wonderful team made the custom frame. It took about a month from start to finish, and when I say finish I mean professionally hung on my wall at my house. As a comparison: I’ve used BYU Framing for many years and always love the result, but the process is not expertly personalized. Meaning: I will be having to come up with ideas and ultimately can only use the frame options they provide, and they’ll frame it just fine. Then I’ll have to go back on campus to pick it up, take it to my car, make it fit and then somehow hang it on my wall (command strips, anyone?).Another contrasting experience: Yesterday I happened to go to Hobby Lobby to find a ready-made frame for my very amateur painting I had made myself and their options were very limited. When I asked for help from the frame shop lady, she literally threw 3 random options that might fit my deep stretched canvas and didn’t even consider that my canvas would be sticking out the back of said frames, or maybe even the colors or material options. They also can’t customize anything, they can just send off the order to have it cut to size but can’t change depth, color, or any other detail that might be important. At Border and Square they guided me every step of the way, from coming up with an original frame design with the correct proportions for my space, then sent me updates with pics via text (thanks Ri!) and finally came to my house to hang it up so that it won’t be moving around if anyone bumps into it (like they do with art in hotel rooms!).I am in absolute AWE by the level of service, care and expertise from Khang, Ri and all in all, Border and Square. I might just have to frame everything with them now. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
