We keep coming back as the meals are great. Food has so much flavour and value for money. Sometimes a bit cold once it gets to the table.Steak night will not dissapoint...However i feel you would benefit from dropping the full table service.It seems to be lacking somewhat, as far as prompt attention to tables and even drink refills.Most people are happy to order at the bar, it also would free up staff getting meals to tables quicker, to prevent food coming out cold.Just a suggestion. But, keep up the great work chef!!

Had a booking called to confirm and was told it didn’t exist…..then made another booking and when we arrived there was no one to seat us or talk to we went up stairs to the bar and found out we were to be placed there with our family, we asked if we could be seated in the empty but set up bistro area and told no and were spoken to rudely by staff there, very disappointed as it was advertised as a good place for mothers day dinner and it was not wouldn’t recommend as we couldn’t even dine upstairs if we wanted to due to no disability access

I had a reservation for the dining room at 6:30 PM, but upon arrival, the ground floor was unlit. We were directed upstairs and seated at a high picnic table with metal seats, which proved to be quite uncomfortable. Subsequently, music from the adjacent nightclub commenced, making conversation difficult. The sole positive aspect of the experience was the exceptional quality of the food, and I commend the chef for their excellent work.

This is one of Ballarat's best kept secrets -- or gems. This unpretentious pub located centrally in Ballarat is actually a dining wonder, a culinary power house. Thanks to the chef Dean and his assistant, Jasmine, two magicians of the kitchen, you can get to taste traditional pub dishes with a very nice modern, sophisticated touch to them. The food is moderately priced, but the quality is more like an upmarket restaurant. The staff is super friendly and warm. After a few times you go there, they'll be like family. Downstairs is uncrowded, for those who want something quieter than the busy rooftop area. It's a great place for families. This is a seriously good place for drinks, nibbles and especially seriously fine dining. You won't regret going to "The Freight" hotel. Try it, you'll like it!

Went for the Thursday $25 Steak night and was amazed at the taste and quality! It was cooked perfectly as requested and the serving size was larger than I expected for the price.
