I was a bit under a time crunch due to another appraiser cancelling on me. I contacted Mike, and dealt directly with him. He scheduled the appraisal, showed up as scheduled, and I had the appraisal the very next day. He then called me after sending it over, to go over it and answer any questions. One of the comparable sales he found was not on the MLS, and therefore, there were no photos showing him the condition of the property. He actually contacted the seller to learn the condition. I couldn't be happier. I would definitely use him in the future.

Mike LaPlatte of LaPlatte Appraisals was punctual, professional, and personable. He verified all of the measurements of our property, evaluated its condition inside and out, and found recent sales within a mile that are good comps, and arrived at a FMV. He did all this for $300 less than the firm my lawyer recommended and one day after I called him! I highly suggest that anyone needing their own appraisal contact Mike. Maybe it's to challenge the County's valuation for property tax assessment (their people hadn't even been in my house since we built it in 2007.) Or maybe you're selling with owner financing, or gifting to a family member. Your real estate agent can't do what Mike does, produce a legally valid appraisal to present to the County or the IRS.
