My involvement with Kevin Flaherty real estate was a little more unusual. I wasn't looking to list my house. Instead, I read on the internet that Mr. Flaherty did property evaluations and as this was my immediate need, I emailed him and asked if he would consider evaluating my property in the country. When I explained that new neighbours had moved in next to us and had brought with them the concept that with ten acres of land, they could do as they wished with it, which was, to run a small car repair and curbsiding operation. Explaining to the neighbours that this was a residential area in which they were doing this was ignored entirely, so with between sixteen & nineteen used vehicles parked close to our property line, Mr. Flaherty gave me a good half hour of his time and advice. Which was, in his experience, the Town of Mono did not stand behind its Property Standard Bylaws and the NEC would be of no help in trying to deal with this used car parking lot next door to us. His advice I clung to as I made my way twice with the Bylaw officer, the Town of Mono who basically ignored me, a taxpaying resident and the NEC who did not override a local municipality's property standard bylaws. In the end, action was taken by literally embarrassing them to stand behind their bylaws. I can't thank Mr. Flaherty enough for his kindness and sound advice in taking the time to speak to me when I was not a potential client, and who knows, maybe in time, I will be. He spends the time with people and listens to them.
